Driver Shaft Advice - Taylormade M2

Hi all, I am 9 handicap and having been using a Taylormade M2 2016 10.5 driver with the stock Fujikura Pro 60 shaft (stiff flex) for almost 8 years and have always really liked it. My swing speed is in the 100-105 range. I used to live in a larger city and had access to a golf warehouse and fit myself into this driver. Because the shaft is stock I have always wondered if it was holding me back in some way. After purchasing this driver I moved to a smaller town where the only golf store in town is an Edwin Watts so it is a lot tougher to try out new drivers but I can hit balls at the store.

 

I recently spent the time to drive to a club champion and was fit for wedges and also hit different combinations of new driver heads and shafts. I know the negatives about CC, but I like the fitter who fit me for irons and knew he wouldn't be too pushy with the driver. During my time spent at club champion, I hit many different driver and shaft combinations but none of them stood out and when I compared the best match to my gamer M2 at the end of the session my gamer M2 beat it fairly easily, so I walked out of CC not purchasing a new driver.

 

While I was there my fitter was trying to get the ball to spin a little bit more to get the ball flight higher but the drivers I was put in either spun too much or I did not hit them well. I have known my driver spins a little on the lower side and my ball flight has also been a bit on the lower side so I have always been open to new options. 

 

My current thinking is to stick with the M2, but I am open to trying different shafts in it to try to get more of an optimal ball flight. This might be easier said than done but I am open to anyones thoughts on if there is a driver shaft I should try to get my hands on based on the above? After hitting all different types of drivers yesterday, I do think there is something to the 60g weight of the shaft and the weight of the M2 so am thinking I should try to stay in the 60g weight range as I had slower swing speeds at CC with a heavier shaft. Feel free to share thoughts on if I should try to get my hands on a certain driver shaft to put in the M2, stick with the stock shaft in the M2, or try some other driver head / shaft combo based on the above. Apologies for the long story but figured more information the better.

• Height 83

The best shaft I had success with in that head … which I still have … is the black color way AD DI 6x … just nasty long bombs 4 times a round
