Sadly, I'd doubt it. There's just no real getting around the ID of graphite shafts being too small for a 'Shaft over post' style hosel. That, or it becomes a pretty unaesthetic OD size down by the neck.

 

Short of stability style two piece shafts, we continue to dream...

I installed a KBS Tour GPS 120 in Black Matte (.355) on my Special Select Newport 2 and it feels awesome on overall long/short  putts. $150/tax.  I purchased another for my sons Odyssey DFX #1 (.370).  I understand they are priceless putters but the name on everything is an overkill. I think its time he accepts the demand from the consumer and not just the Pro's if he doesn't plan to release "For Tour Use Only' to the general public.

this is objectively false. Non-steel putter shafts are a gigantic minority

No need to be rude. It was just an observation from watching play last weekend. “Seems like everyone is” is a common expression meant to mean “seems to be becoming more popular.” It’s not meant to be taken literally, and I can’t imagine anyone else besides you did.

My buddy has came up with a solution to this problem he invented a shaft adapt hosel we’re you can install a graphite shaft in a over post style putter they had a couple of pictures on here a while back I think it was somewhere in the Sanderson farms championship pics

@diamanared77 @ForTourUseOnly Damn, some slick solutions.

 

Get's me thinking though, why the stubbornness on post/spud dimensions? OD of post obviously being the limiting factor here. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we can all agree it's the niche of all niche demands for jet/slant necks and a graphite shaft, but surely it can't be hard for a putter manufacturer to do some special models with slimmer spuds.

 

I'm only a home garage engineer (aren't we all here...), but I'd have thought the demands on putter hosel strengths are relatively low given swing speed, meaning the material linking the spud/post to top of neck doesn't necessarily need to be a full .370" or close to it to retain integrity.

 

From there only the interfacing surface between post and ID of shaft would need to be addressed, solved by making it slightly longer. I'm almost amazed LA Golf hasn't partnered with a putter manufacturer (or they have their own line now too anyway) to do a run with a custom post to fit. Or at least met halfway and they design a layup with a slightly increased ID

 

This is what keeps me up at night... If any actual engineers want to enter the chat with a 'nah man, you're dreaming', I'll happily put myself out of my misery ha. Please, do me a favour...

The tricky part is every graphite putter shaft ive seen so far has a different ID on the mandrel/air hole, so it wouldn't be something thjat would be "universal" to use different shafts or exchange them that and then there would be more breakage as a smaller piun is more liukely to break if thinner. I think the only way to do it properly is either how LA has done it but more like the Modus GOST shaft where the tip end is cleaner or the way I have done it and then paint the shaft afterwards so the colours match perfectly.

 

Doubt we see any collab with LA as they seem to be going out of business again.
