Ping S159 Swing Weight

Has anyone ordered over length S159 wedges? Tried to order a 52 green dot with a DG105s with mid size grip 1 1/2 longer. Got quoted the best they can do is E6. Now I’m used to my clubs being in the mid to high D range but E6 seems a bit excessive.

I had a 54 at inch over and it was only D5.5. Modus 105 and std grip. Should easily be able to get it in the D range. The s159 is one of the lighter wedges.

Got mine .75 over and requested D4. They were spot on when I measured them. Plus 1.5 is a lot though.

That seems way off. The S159 stock swingweight is D3, and +1.5" would be 9 swingweight points, bringing you to E2. No way that the best they can do is actually heavier than what it would be if they did.....nothing lol. My money is on that being a typo and they meant "D6", dropping 6 swingweight points is far more in line with what would be "the best they could do" with their weight tuning options.

Is there by chance a super light grip involved in this build? Not that that would make a massive difference, but it could be part of it.

Going to give them a ring myself. In the UK we have to go via a retailer, wondering if they miss heard. I did think it was weird as I asked for a standard mid size grip as well so nothing out of the ordinary.

Yeah i'm betting on a misunderstanding there. Not only do "D" and "E" sound really similar in English, they're right next to each other on the keyboard. If you get pushback when speaking to them i'd lay out the numbers (stock SW is D3, +1.5" only gets you go E2) so at minimum someone has to answer for something.

Btw I love playing wedges at a similar length, best thing i've done to the bottom of my bag.

For reference I put new shafts in my wedges. Here were the weights

50 296 grams

54. 300 grams

58. 304 grams

I ordered mine D4 and D5 in the 58.
