Can anyone help with high-end Computer build

I have always been a DIY'er with almost everything because I enjoy it. I would like to build a powerful computer to run 4k (GSPro). Can anyone provide a list of parts that are current for today. A lot of Youtube videos I am watching are 2 years old and pretty outdated. A top end parts list or a current youtube video would be fantastic. Thanks for any help! When I say "top end build", I am not saying I want the most expensive pieces for the build. I do want an amazing graphics card and don't want to skimp on performance components.

Good luck with finding the middle... LOL Desktop and laptop technology has been changing so fast, techies are not using YouTube like they did in years past.  I know a few gamers that built powerful work/game units, but spared no expense.

Easiest way to do it is go to a website called pcpartpicker and build one on there, too many options for a short forum post here. Pcpartpicker will show you all sorts of various modern parts and pieces and ensure compatibility, and then at that point you can go order the different components from wherever you'd like

I tried that earlier, but just WAY too many options for me. I was paralyzed. Just looking for some info from a gamer or PC guy. I know very little about them, but enjoy the idea of building from ground up. I spent tons of hours about a year ago building one online with parts, but that is probably outdated at this point. Was hoping for more help this time.

Wow, that looks awesome!

I don't have expertise in that field, but all of my CAD workstations are build by these guys ( https://www.xicomputer.com/ ), and they may be worth calling and bouncing your questions off of. They build for DoD to large design consulting companies and are very well versed in computer building.

Good luck!

Running a 4k simulator requires a nice GPU and middle-of-the-road everything else.

A decent middle-of-the-road build would look like this:
Processor: Intel i7-14700 or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, along with a nice air cooler like a Noctua NH-D15 will be more than enough. You can use an all-in-one water cooler if you want but it's probably not going to be necessary for your application. I would normally recommend slightly cheaper CPUs too here, but GSPro doesn't offer a recommended unit for me to judge just how much processing power you need. Better too much than too little

Motherboard: Anything that's relatively inexpensive (<200$) and supports both your chosen processor and DDR5 - I would also pick something with built-in WiFi these days.

RAM: Any DDR5 will do just fine. 16Gb is considered "minimum" by gamers these days, and consider buying a faster stick than DDR5-4800 if the cost is similar, and don't forget that speed needs to be configured in BIOS by turning on XMP/EXPO profiles.

Graphics: If you're buying new, Nvidia 40xx series are current. GSPro recommends a 3080 for 4k - this is roughly equivalent to a 4070 now. Not sure what the equivalent AMD card would be.

Power supply: Go for 700W or so. Anything in this tier list (https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/) in categories A or B is great.

As far as case and fans go, the case is choosing something that you like the look of and is large enough to fit your chosen graphics card. Get lots of airflow in through the front and/or bottom of the case, and a little bit less airflow out the back/top. If you have more air in then out you can keep a little extra dust out using positive pressure inside the case.

I've got a sim in my house.  I just went with a Lenovo Legion.  The Legion is a gaming laptop so the processor and graphics card are plenty for a sim.  I went with a Legion 5i Intel 16" and upgraded the ram and processor to i7.  They run sales all the time so I had about $1300 into it and it's a fantastic laptop.  I bought it about four months ago.

I am not a PC guy but have learned just enough to be dangerous.  If you want to play GSPro in 4k, for the best and 4-5 year future proof experience you should get:

nvidia 4080 super.  This is also important if you are going to be driving multiple screens/monitors.

2 TB SSD

32 GB of Ram

A very good case for cooling

If you are going to run other programs simultaneously, like Swing Catalyst, FSX2020, OBS, web streaming for online play or Kinovia then you will need a more powerful CPU (i9) to utilize more cores   And you should upgrade to 64 Gb of Ram.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
