Why No Love?

When I started playing this game, I used Golf Pride Tour Wrap Cord grips and loved them. At some point during the 90's I switched to Tour Velvet's (occasionally used Lamkin Crossline's). The thing is, I can't remember why? I remember knowing exactly how many wraps to go down the grip to hit my wedges different distances and I recall the feel being excellent.

They're still listed on the Golf Pride website so I guess there must be some love out there but very rarely do I see them being used. Off the top of my head, Henrik Stenson is the only tour player I've seen using them recently although there's a few who are using other wrap grips (Miguel Angel Jimenez, Phil Mickelson etc).

What do you guys think? I'm seriously debating changing back but I'm interested in your opinion. Is anyone on here using wrap grips? (specifically the Tour Wrap Cords).

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a wrap grip from a straight grip?

I use tour wrap full cords and love them! Great feel and never thought of the wedge idea might have to give that a try!

Also, they're available for less than £3 a grip on ebay at the moment - can't think of another corded grip anywhere near that price. I bought 13 to stock up, perhaps ought to get a few more if they might be phasing them out...

i'm a tour wrap cord grip man myself. i love the feel of the wrap in your hands. there are a few more people play tour wrap cords on tour, although of the top of my head i can't think of them.

I like them best because they stay in place in my hands with the lightest possible grip pressure.

ive got the ping nts grips on my g10's and i love them for the choke up and down reason you stated. ive got winn Xi7's on my mp-62's and they feel great but when its time for a regrip i will definatly be putting a wrap type type grip on.

i got some cheapo 2.79 golf pride wrap that has a rubber type feeling to it on my wedges. i went with it because it was the cheapest at the store at the time but didnt think of the benefits of the steps of the wraps until a 3 hour range session where i hit the wedges for a good 2 hours with full, 3/4 and 1/2 swings.

im looking for a comfortable wrap type grip for my ZL driver. ive ordered a few different shafts to go with it. seems like it would be the best type of grip for an adjustable driver. i would put the winn Xi7 on the driver shafts but you can feel the seam on the back. its not a bad thing so to speak for me as it helps square the club as long as there on straight. but for an adjusstable driver it would feel awkward.

i'd rather play without a glove but some of these grips tear up my hands. i love the winns' so much for the fact that i dont need a glove with them.

Kenny Perry uses non-cord tour wrap grips. Work well for him.
