if you want some of the latest technology go to tokyo, but be warned you are gonna pay through the nose for it. if you are looking for cheap knock off's then hong kong is the place you wanna go, but becareful what you buy

I would echo papichulosteve's comments. Tokyo is the place to go for the latest equipment but you pay the price, no deals here especially with the conversion rate. Yeah, it'll be cheaper in Honk Kong but the chances are it's about as fake as fake can be so when you take into account what you actually get, you way overpay for knockoffs.

Having been on many a shopping trip in Japan, Korea & Taiwan I can tell you, you get what you pay for. They might look the part but all the little items that make a shirt, shoes or golf club top of the line is missing. Buy your stuff here but if you have to buy overseas, buy in Japan.

THAILAND IS THE WAY TO GO.......period.

Cheaper than S'pore and HongKong, not to mention the huge selection you wont believe. All major OEMs, US and Japan, especially Japan stuff that you only dream about in US. There's this one plaza right in the heart of Bangkok that offers everything, and I mean everything.

Fakes and knockoffs are there, but they are easily identified. These shops will not cheat you with fake stuff and ruin their reputation as competitions are very high there. Also, many of them are official importer/distributor of OEMs like TM, Titleist, Nike, etc.

Im more than happy to help if anyone's going to visit Thailand.

Btw, I dont own any of the shops there. Just visit there regularly, and ho a lot.

cheers,

Thaniya Plaza is the place in Bangkok - 4 floors of golf shops, although half of these would be engaged in selling 2nd hand stuff. From my personal view, Thaniya Plaza used to be a lot better 1 or 2 years ago but of late, the amont of good equipment has dropped. If you are an avid Tourstage fan, there's a huge shop on the ground floor. Ther's also a shop selling Gauge Design, Fourteen, Zodia and Matsumoto stuff there.

Apart from Thaniya, the other big shopping malls like Emporium and Central in Bangkok have a fair selection too.

HK doesn't have fake stuff anymore. They are quite strict about that. I was there last November. The stores won't ruin their rep when the guys who want the fake stuff can take the ferry to the mainland and buy the fake stuff there. Hankow Road is the place to buy in HK. Strangely though TS stuff is cheaper in HK than Singapore and Miz Japan stuff is cheaper in Singapore than in HK. The place to shop in Singapore is the Far East Center Building. Japan is definitely more expensive ubless you buy used. Buy "Grade B" used in Japan though would be 8.5/10 condition and would be greatly discounted probably being a 1-2 year old model. Best thing to buy in Japan would be SC or RJB putters. The Japan only models are just prettier. Prepare to spend $300 for a Grade B SC or RJB though.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
