Saw big John tonight on TV with a TM bag and wearing a Maxfli hat at the Abu Dhabi event - take it this means he's signed up wit them? Sorry if this is old news.

Taylor Made owns Dunlop so it is not surprising to me. I am sure he felt like his equipement was holding him back.

I can't see how the equipment cost Daly the tournament he handed TW in San Fran. He should have been able to tap in the short putt with his umbrella, let alone a custom made Redneck putter.

Taylor Made does not own Dunlop, they own Maxfli which hasn't been the same for years in the U.S. Dunlop makes Sean Fister's driver that he used to win the 2005 LDA not Taylor Made.

He was using an unmarked (his name wasn't on it) TM bag on the range at Abu. It's clear from the above pic. he's using a Maxfli bag now. Kinda confusing at first, but now that it's clear that TM owns Maxfli it makes sense. Maybe the Maxfli bag was unavailable for some reason.

 

IMO it makes more sense from a marketing stand point for JD to rep. the "fringe" brands like Maxfli and Dunlop rather than say a TM or Titleist. He is more popular with the demo. that brands like Maxfli and Dunlop are seeking.

On TGC, during a practice round shot for the event, I saw JD wearing a Maxfli hat. Man, he looked different with a hat on.

I never understood why in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 and 2006 they put a hat on him. I've never seen anyone look more different on Tour than Daly while he's wearing a lid. Strange.

What's really interesting is that TaylorMade/Maxfli has not made any announcement about this. Perhaps they are waiting for Daly to play in a PGA Tour event to make more of a "splash." Also interesting is that although JD's shirt is now missing the Dunlop/Loco logo (trying saying that 3x real fast), he still has all the Dunlop Loco and Redneck equipment listed on his Web site and Dunlop still features him prominently on the front page of their Web site. :)

I'm proud of my boy finally getting with a reputable company, following Callaway. It will be interesting to see how TMAG will put up with John's behavior. Callaway sure didn't keep him around long. I wish John the best. Cheers. :)

He's been using Taylormade drivers off and on, used a v steel fairway wood for a while and has worn adidas shoes since he's been with Dunlop, I kind of always wondered about that and thought it was just a matter of time. Taylormade losing Poulter is huge, though. He was really good for the youthful approach the company was going for.

haha Daly will wear whatever kind of pants he wants, I guess. Poulter went to Cobra like Camillo, I guess Cobra is going for that hip young approach as well. I say Poulter is with Titleist by 2008. haha
