KRANK EL DIABLO 44' DRIVER - AWESOME RESULTS

Total ROBO custom job
Hey LD gang .... I thought you guys might get a kick out of this ...

I couldn't ignore the result that the El Diablo keeps putting up - A few months back I tried a few and they just weren't for me .... BUT I though about it - why - and I realized it was the HUGE change in headweight versus my current breed - but I knew the heat was there

I have been messing around with heavy short drivers lately - 44 & even shorter as a playing driver. I have my army of Cobras - but I have been hunting for a low rope hitter.

SO !!!!!!!!!!!! ... I called up Vince @ KRANK and told him I had an idea .. and the next day I had a nice new 7.5 El Diablo sitting in my "goodie room"

The head weighed 196.5 grams when I got it - but I wanted to somewhat mimic the weight of the L4s - but do it with a longdrive head made for bringing the heat. So I packed the head full of cottonballs up to 210 grams. I wanted to spread the weight more uniformly and not alter the bias or CG of the head. I then installed an 83X Diamana Blueboard - tipped 1 full inch and butt cut it to 44 inches. I use a very heavy grip setup so I knew the swingweight would be good.

I took it staright to the course ... Gents - This an absolute HOWITZER on course - I hit LONG - STRAIGHT - LOW LAUNCH - LOW SPIN BULLETS !!!!!!!!!- and with a Pro V1x - It was a joke. The weight DEFINITELY added more forgivness to the head - the weight I think took even more spin off - but combined with the BB which is kinda middle of the road with launch & spin - It is a PERFECT MATCH!!!

I played a full 18 with it this last Sunday and I could not be more happy with the results - and it still has that El Diablo firepower. NOW I get it - now I know why this head keeps winning.

I have another head now that I am actually going to experiment with on an even shorter and heavier setup - Just for giggles.

So to you Gorillas out there smacking the 50s around ... Gents - Try one at 44 - It's awesome !!!!!!

If anyone wants 411 on what I did - Just yell !!!!

Not at all ... No different than adding hotmelt ... I just used cotton :drinks:

All the physical aspects of the head are unchanged

That and I couldn't care less about the rules of golf

14 club rule - Yeah whatever

Foot Wedge - Carry it every round

Mulligan - Standard part of the game

ETC ETC ETC

I definitely like this idea. Currently I'm gaming an 8.5* R9 supertri that I tuned down 7* with a 1.5* tip. Shaft is an Aldila NV 75x that I too tipped 1" and butt cut to 44" and it hits low, straight bullets. I've always wanted to try a Krank head. Hope to pick one up soon!

I've been looking at one of these for on course play. This might just have sold me on trying it.

Callawaykid I'm gaming more or less the same setup (8.5 supertri head with a 76x proforce v2 shaft.) Been fiddling with the weights to find the right feel. Currently I have 5 gram and 6 gram on the sides and a 1gram at the back which seems to give me the best results, as the original setup (16,1,1) seemed too heavy for me. Are you using the standard weight setup? How does it feel?
