Anyone played this shaft?
My clubmaker is going to put this into my L4V head, which is heavy. According to him, this is a new 2008 shaft from Harrison.

Does anyone here played this head before, and if so - how it is?

TIA

I know this is a kinda after the fact, but this is an amazing golf shaft. K.J. Choi played the 65 X in the British Open and I personally have it in a Cleveland Launcher Comp! It is the best feeling and performing shaft I have ever hit, and knowing that it retails for under 80 bucks makes you wonder why people are paying hundreds of dollars for other stuff. Guess they just like contributing to other companies marketing budgets!!

I am about to put a 65R into a TM Burner, so I also would appreciate any feedback on how it performs.

Interestingly, Harrison Shafts have had an independent test carried out, where the Saga was compared to Aldila's DVS 60, Fujikura Rombax 6W06 and Matrix Ozik X-Con-5. The Saga turned out the longest with the best dispersion. If this a true interpretation of all the results then the Saga would be exceptional value as the other shafts are 3-4 times more expensive.

I just talked with Jeremy at Harrison and he said Sabbatini, KJ Choi, and Padraig Harrington are all using the Saga. Mid launch with mid/low spin, should be a great combo for me in my Adams 9015D...I will be ordering the shaft today in a 65g stiff flex, may have it tipped a bit

Here's the results of the independent robotic test mentioned above:

Driver used = 9.5* Alpha c83-4 SP700 at 100mph head speed

Harrison SAGA 60 Stiff (65g):

Carry - 232.00 yds

Total Distance - 251.50 yds

Spin - 3030.65 rpm

Dispersion - 2.66 yds.

Matrix Ozik Xcon 5 Stiff:

Carry - 225.33 yds

Total Distance - 247.67 yds

Spin - 3269.80 rpm

Dispersion - 7.16 yds.

Aldila DVS 60 Stiff:

Carry - 227.50 yds

Total Distance - 248.00 yds

Spin - 3569.57 rpm

Dispersion - 5.16 yds.

Fujikura Rombax 6W06 Stiff:

Carry - 186.50 yds

Total Distance - 197.50 yds

Spin - 2885.45 rpm

Dispersion - 20.33 yds

I was very surprised to see how poorly the Rombax W-series performed but I have heard other bad reviews on the W series. I don't think that specific sereis is their best. I've heard much better reviews of the Rombax Z and X series.

Looks like the others are pretty even, very nice dispersion for the SAGA

TM Qi10 LS 8.25°, Ventus Black 6X, tipped 1”, 44.75”

TM BRNR Mini Driver at 12° (HWF), HZRDUS Black RDX 70 TX, tipped 1", 43.75"

TM Stealth+ 5w at 18.25°, HZRDUS Black RDX 80 6.5, tipped 1”, 42.5"

2023 TM P7MB (4-PW), PX 6.0, +1/4”

Vokey SM10 Raw, 50.08(F), 54.12(D), 60.08(M), PX 6.0, +1/4" - with leading edge grind

Just some more info I thought I would pass along...

In the past many Harrison shafts have been known to play a little weaker than the stated flex. This is true for the Red Mugen shaft, however after talking with Harrison for a while they assured me that the Mugen Prototype (blue) and the SAGA play true to flex.

My SS averages about 107mph right now so I will tip the SAGA just 1/4". One of the guys at Harrison has an SS of 112mph and he said he tipped his 3/4" but if he had it to do over again he would have only tipped it 1/2"...that being said I am thinking 1/4" should be just right for my SS.

Hope that helps...I will definitely write a review once I get a few rounds and driving range sessions under my belt with this combo.

I don't have any experience with this shaft but is a 100 mph clubhead speed with reasonable launch angle and spin equate to only a 220-230 carry distance on flat land with no wind? I regularly carry about 240-250 with a total distance of 250-260 (confirmed with GPS, straight holes level ground) and I thought my swing speed is only about 95.

I have tried just about everything that has been brought out in the past few years. Harrison Saga is the best "bang for your buck" shaft I have ever played. It is true to flex, but it is a very anti-left shaft.

I am waiting for the arival of a KZG Q head On a Harrison Saga S 60 which Is tiped 1/4 of an Inch
Why Is this considered to be Anti- Left?

Usually stiffer tipped shafts keep the club head from closing at impact so the left side is avoided more.

I've noticed that most people that have commented on how good this shaft is aren't currently playing it. I guess it's a good shaft for the money but there seem to be better options for most people's gamers.

I have 75g stiff Saga in my ZL and I also like it a lot. I'm not too concerned with the spin rate but I like the launch I'm getting and the control and feel of this shaft is excellent. I'm constantly looking for heads to buy so I have an excuse to get another Saga. Great shaft, I'd still buy it at twice the price.
