Day One Review - KRANK EL DIABLO

Anyone interested take a read . . . .
Ok, soo had to have the LONGEST driver out there, heard about Krank looked them up a little bit had to give one a try..

I got the El Diablo 9 degree, Stiff shaft, 46". First, shaft was supposed to be an ACCUFLEX VENOM shaft. What I recieved was a Graman Kaos Shaft, kind of confused called them before hitting it. Told me it was a better shaft for the club they found after further testing, rambled some numbers, sounds good, to be honest I don't know any better.. i'll accept it.

Range time .. small bucket at the range to warm up before testing this thing on the course. Not too bad, definately has a different feel than a regular driver, i have hit em all Cleveland, Nike, TM, Callaway, Ping, Cobra.. you name it. Maybe its my swing, maybe its a little less forgiveness, but the club has anywhere between a fade and a slice... rarely hit it straight, if ever.

Course ... picked a course thats pretty long and pretty wide open to air things out a little bit .. see what this guy can do .. well doesn't really improve anything over what I have. I have been hitting a Cleveland Hibore XL 10.5 Red fit on Stiff shaft reg 45" length. That club goes long, and very straight. Played two holes where I hit an extra ball and used both drivers, both times the Cleveland was longer and straighter. Using PRO V1 golf balls too incase anyone was wondering.

Overall, yes this club hits long, but no longer than anything else I have used, gonna give it a few more chances, maybe try and learn anything special to it, but so far, has not impressed for as hyped as I had been.

And again FYI .. I am pushing these clubs both out around 300 - 330 yards on really good drives, average drives, 280 - 300. Always the longest driver in my group .. Not tryin to exagerate at all.

Anyone with any thoughts, suggestions on it .. clue me in.. Thanks

i reckon the following,

the clubhead is pretty much a non competitive area for golf manufacturers in terms of MAX DISTANCE, the reason being all drivers are at the limit of the regulations on COR and CC.

if a head sits nicely you may hit it well and have a longer average / swing better with it

how the head feels at impact - this can give you confidence to swing better and poss adjust your shape

mishit shots will of course vary based on design

in my opinion the real distance advantage or disadvantage comes from the shaft -

lastly - you didnt get custom fit for the krank and probably not the others either - so its a bit of a lottery which club will hit furthest as the shafts may both be x or s but play entirely differently.

maybe you need 10.5 degrees loft and not 9 degrees.

Just a little more information . . . . .

Spent some more time at the range with the club, used a few lead weights on it and found a very nice combination. Was able to hit the club HIGH.. LONGGGGGGGG.. and STRAIGHT probably about .. 75%of the time..

Taking some tinkering, but with some work, and slapping a couple of lead weights on it.. looks like its gonna be the lonnnnggg bomber i was looking for..

just don't expect miracles right out of the box ! !!

Pappy,

Try the El Diablo with a House of Forged shaft. I have found that the HOF and ED combo are producing the highest ball speeds for me.

Just ordered mine yesterday in a 50" LDA version. Hoping to use it at the end of the month in my Locals. I'll let you know how I like it

All I can say is I will be shocked if I don't move on to Regionals. This thing is in it's own universe.

Just as an update . . . . .

Sold mine on eBay already.. Played with it, wasn't overly impressed nothing special about it. May be a wrong loft, or shaft, but went with what Krank told me.. Oh wells..

Just time for a new driver :)

Tryin out a Cobra SS350 in 7.5 loft now, was only couple bucks on ebay :good:

Just wanted to add a side note here... I wanted to note that the people at Krank seem to be very willing to help you out and really seem good ! ! May not have worked for me at this point, but I am definately impressed with the people who make the clubs.. Don't be hesitant to try one based on not having too much information on the company ! ! !
