Replacing Nike stock shafts

Steel or Graphite; Does it matter?

I have decided I am going to get the new Nike SQ 3 wood. But, I want to replace the stock shaft with an upgraded high performance one. Do I need to get the club with the graphite shaft already or can I save 20 bucks and get the steel shaft model? Does it matter since I am trashing the shaft anyway?

The only thing I can think of is tip size? I can't imagine the head is specifically made for steel or graphite.

Or I guess another question could be, can I just buy the head?

the tip diameter is .335 for both the graphite and steel. you can save the $20 and get the steel.

where do you play in charleston? i visit family there every year and play a lot at charleston national (family lives on course) and rivertowne.

I live next to Rivertowne. I probably play National more. I very rarely play Dunes West.

It will often vary due to the brand, but last time I checked the heads for a steel shaft club were lighter than those used for graphite.

yeah, i played dunes west and its not worth the money. cncc and rivertowne are just real fun courses to play.

i've asked nike before if there were different heads (t-40 tour and t-60 heads) for the different shafts and one response was that the graphite is longer so the swing weights are similar and one said the graphite is longer and there is a shaft tip weight. the long and short of it, there is only one head.
