Comparisons of flight and spin

I am wanting to get some impressions of the differences from you guys on the two above mentioned shafts. I know there is a big difference in price but I have a Whiteboard laying around but I am currently playing a PL Red in my G10 driver. I am thinking of purchasing another G10 to put the Whiteboard in and I am wondering what to expect before I take on this project. Both shafts are stiff. The Mits is a 63g. I will probably tip the WB .5" as well. For you guys that might have experience, how similar will the launch and spin be between the two? Thanks in advance.

Allmost identical, I currently play the red in my all my woods. I used to game the wb but sold it to a good friend when switching drivers and just went back to a PL-red. The WB will give you more consistency due in large to their material grade, but unless you are a really low handicapped player both will play very similar to each other. The TC prolaunch tour design red would be even closer as far as technology would be concerned if you are looking at something similar without the large price tag. Hope that helps.

The whiteboard launched lower and spun less for me. PL Red was closer to being a mid-launch shaft for me. If the PL Red is working for you, why tip the whiteboard?

I think the WB is lower launch and lower spin than the PL Red. I really didn't care much for the Red, but the only time I have ever hit it was in my G10. It felt less consistent than the WB, and the dispersion certainly wasn't as tight.

Guys, the Red was a suprise shaft for me. I never had too much luck with the PL Blue but always did well with the plain Blue. The Red in the G10 has been the best driver I have ever owned for my swing. I am not about the screw with the one G10 I have and mess it up. But being the tinkerer I am and having a perfectly good Ion WB laying around, I just can't help myself. I have also played a 73g BB in my 3 wood for a couple of years now and nothing can beat it out of my bag. I am going to trade a few wedges and a hybrid in today on a used G10 at Golfsmith and try this. I will let you know what I find after a range session and some play. Until then, keep your impressions coming.

Well guys, I have both clubs in hand. Both are 9* G10s. Same length, swingweight, grip, etc. I took them both to the range. I must say it is really hard to tell a difference in launch. Spin is close as well as they both carried close to the same. If I had to say which one launched lower, I would go PL Red. Its close but between the two I have to go this route. Of course, neither driver has actually been measured for true loft so this may be a differing variable. The Diamana just crests a little higher as well. Now for the major differences, IMO. Feel is much better with the WB. It is a smoother shaft as compared to the PL Red. Also they load a bit differently. With the WB, I did not find myself having to pull through the shot as much. For me this made it easier to trust the club. When I feel I have to work a bit harder to load the shaft, I overdo it sometimes and pull the shots. The WB just was easier to trust my release. The PL Red is not a hard shaft to load though. I am just picking things I could tell after a full bucket of range balls.

 

Would I go out looking for a WB if I already did not have one? No. The PL Red is an awesome shaft. I am guessing the Tour version is even better. Another low cost shaft I have had a lot of luck with is the GD Pershing. Anyway, these are my findings. I am not selling the PL Red G10 just yet. I need to play a few rounds with the WB and make sure it can be my gamer. I will say I am rooting for the WB as that Ion finish and Flower Band is nice.
