Just misplaced my long-term putter and went shopping: shocked by the money charged for putters these days!

Okay, yeah, it accounts for half the strokes I hit, but anyway...

Any recommendations for putters around 80-100?

The only thing I don't like are the giant claw-like ones. I prefer an insert.

I got my White Hot XG #6 on ebay brand new for 70 bucks plus shipping on ebay. They are 120 bucks in the store.

most of the ping karsten series putter retail for that much in the US, never tried them but there karsten so they must be good for their price

I saw the title and instantly thought of Karsten or Lux, but since you prefer inserts, how about going a little over budget and going for the Odyssey White Hot Tour?

they're firmer than the original XG insert (which i like, personally) and quality is excellent as you would expect from Odyssey

maybe not under $100, but the rossa classics retail for 119ish. AGSI+ insert is not entirely soft, but still feels good.

my dad loves his karsten. it has a polymer piece in the back cavity for the feel of a insert and the look of a steel face.

I'm sure you could find about anything out on the Bay. I got my gamer for $25 and that included the regrip.

Great, thanks. Gonna hit the two-ball and Ping and any of the others I can find today. I guess I was going by retail and there are some good sales out there.

 

FWIW: I shot 40 yesterday and had 20 putts, so I think a pool cue would work better than my current knock-off.

Yes putters are not that much, other than the forged model. You can pick up several models on e-bay in your price range or better.

 

I got mine from a local Pro shop, paid $90 even.....

i used the white hot 9, which was a great putter, it was a little heavier and was very stable and good looking, check it out.

As some others have pointed out LUX is a great option. Our deep face milling gives the feel of almost an insert, yet no mushy feel on long putts. They feel softer than the Karsten series and are just a tad more when stamped and less when not stamped.

Thanks everyone. [i'm old school and don't buy on Ebay, so...]

 

Hit a ton of putters yesterday. Really liked the White Hot, Yes, and 2 and 3-ball Odyssey. Could have been happy with the Ping as well. Ultimately, I was looking for stability to cure the shakes and it came down to the Yes and 2 and 3-ball.

 

My buddies are going to mock me whenever I miss putts with that giant 3-ball, but that was the one I got.

 

Immediately hit the practice green and played 6 holes. It's not great on long putts but I finally started making those 6-7 footers that I've been missing all year.
