Sensicore???

I was just wondering what everyone's opinion of Sensicore is... I have a partial tear in the labrum of my left shoulder and through rehab have gotten strong enough to avoid surgery and start playing golf again... i am going to be getting a new set of sticks properly fitted and was curious if the vibration dampening might be a good idea or if it was just another ploy to get more money per shaft out of my wallet... any ideas would be great on this one, thanks in advance

Oddly enough, I'm in pretty much the same situation. I played baseball in college and was forced to retire a season early because i tore up my throwing shoulder. I opted to not have surgery and instead rehab. After getting back into golf, the doc told me that it would probably be a good idea if for at least a little while I use winn grips to dampen some vibration until we knew for certain that my tear was strong again. I cannot stand the feel of winn grips, so instead i reshafted my clubs with s300 sensicore's. I cannot say enough good things about them. They feel buttery smooth of center hits; they dont dampen feedback on pured shots at all. You definately notice the help on mishits. You get a clear sense of where you hit the ball exactly on the face without the harsh vibration of a mishit. Even though my shoulder is healthy now, I am hooked on sensicore and will likely play it from now on. Cant say enough good things about it. Good luck!

You can buy the Sensicore inserts at Golfsmith for $28, just install these when it is time for new grips and save yourself the expense of reshafting.

if it does, its by a pretty insignificant ammount. all the sensicore inserts are are foam spiralled around a metal wire; they weigh hardly nothing.

buying the sensicore inserts from golfsmith is a good call. they are easy to install -- all you do is slide it down the iron shaft until its tight, and its good to go.

and IMHO, sensicore feel much better than pro soft inserts. pro softs are a cheap alternative though.

I have to throw in my 2 cents. I have had an elbow problem for over 15 years.

I played graphites for 5-6 years but they are just not like steel. I went back to DG Sensicores about 10 years ago. I tried the ProSofts and they are not the same as Sensicores.

I started having elbow issues and went back to Sensicores and it went away. :russian_roulette:

With all the restrictions placed on equipment from the USGA, several manufacturers, Callaway, Cobra, and a few other makers, are working very hard to engineer heads that have a great hit sensation, but filter out nasty vibration.

A bad shaft can definitely channel vibration into your joints, and often shaft dampeners help, but rob the hit sensation.

I think that you want to approach this issue in this order;

1) choose the best feeling and best dampening head (often difficult to attain because the best test is to hit the head and then wait till the next day or two- without testing other potential heads in the meantime)

2) make sure all specs are fitted as best possible- this will reduce overall stress on your joints

3) test different shaft models as aftermarket options- Nippon Shaft has the softest steel, but it is still steel, GDI has a couple of heavier iron shaft models that are quite good

Regards, 3

Interesting that you feel Sensicore is better than ProSoft. None of our testers have ever made that distinction - and we have over 400 on file now through numerous demo day tests.

personal preference i guess. i started out with sensicores in nike pro combo os's and liked them, and when i bought my next set, the nike pc tours, i bought pro soft inserts to stick in there as a cheap alternative to sensicores. dont get me wrong, pro softs dampened vibration really, really well, but in my case i felt they did their job too well. pure hits just didnt feel as buttery and felt pretty blah. i switched to sensicores because they dampen vibration well, but still give me a distinct sense of where on the clubface i made contact. plus they feel sweet when pured. to each their own i guess.

if youre going down this route, prosofts are pretty cheap to exeriment with; and if it doesnt work out, you arent out 30 bucks. but ill stick with sensicore...

cheers!
