Well I'm at a loss for why these are my top 3, but here we go:

 

1. Taylormade TP Black 100% (almost impossible to get it out of top choice with slider)

 

2. Callaway IX Tour 97.5 % (I never tried this ball until GBS.com's recommendation and I was really impressed)

 

3. (tie) Srixon Z-URS - NIKE PD Soft

 

Strange mix, considering my favorite balls don't appear (TP Red, ProV1x, NXT Tour)

I did and I dont feel it was a waste of money.

 

I have a moderate swing speed (90mph), high launch angle and low spin off the driver.

 

I am allways wondering what the best ball is for me and if I should be playing the premium balls or not. I cant afford to give up yards off the tee but I still want a ball that will feel soft and stick on the greens.

 

The info from the Golf Mag article that tested allmost all golf balls and the info and recommendations you can get from GolfBallSelector are relevant to me and worth the effort and money.

 

I can easily get my $20 back from my golf budddies with one good shot.

With my current wedges however, (they are practically new), I've had better rounds with the e5+ which is like 15th on my list.

 

I'm losing faith in golfballselector.com. I when thru the selector twice more today. Doesn't matter if I focus on distance, feel, or control. The TP Black is in the top 2. Sometimes swapping with the Nike One Platinum.

 

Is that absolutely the best ball for me in all situations? A mid capper with a 103 swing, 14* launch angle, and sub 2800rpm spin rate?

I'm not familiar with golfballselector.com and money is a little tight right now so I don't want to play around with it, but wouldn't your launch angle and spin rate change depending on the ball? Where are you getting these figures? Did you just get on a launch moniter one time?

 

Personally I'd rather do a dynamic ball fitting like the bridgestone challenge rather than spend the money on a site (that seems from the outside looking in) to rely on information that you provide from memory or otherwise...

I got fitted for my irons a little ways back. You input your stats at the beginning of the online wizard at GolfballSelector.com. It then asks you for what your preferences are for ball performance. No matter what, I got the TP Blacks in the top 2 as long was feel on greens wasn't the absolute most important or distance. That says to me that stats weigh more heavily than preferences in their recommendations.

 

I'm going to try again. 103 is my driver SS but about 83 for my irons. I'm beginning to want more feel out of a ball these days. Lets see what my top 3 will be now.

Now the TP Blacks are not in the top 3 but 8th. Now its:

 

1. Nike One Platinum '08s

2. Wilson Zips

3. Pro V1 '06s

 

The recently updated their DB with some of the new balls. My current fav, the Burner TPs is number 11. I kept my stats the same but lowered my launch angle and focused more on feel.

I decided to give this a go, now I am a low ball speed player 110 mph with the driver and I usually select balls on short game performance. Like several other I could not get my top two options to change regardless of any changes I made in the questions. All the balls that I thought would get a mention are at the bottom of the list (titleist solo, Wilson 50) I would have to say that I am sceptical about the recommendations but I suppose that is what the site is for. There was a bit of a sale on golf balls this weekend so I bought the top two models to test and see what happens.

3. Titleist Pro V1 (06) 93.7%

I'm a high spin, high launch player with ball speeds between 145-155.

 

It recommended:

 

1.) TP Black 08

2.) Tour iX

3.) Nike Power Distance Soft 08

 

Based on my understanding, the Tour iX is extremely low spin off the driver and the TP Black 08 is higher spin off the driver. They are basically polar opposites.

 

Is this a function of the spin levels produced at my ball speed? Or are they confusing the TP Black 08' with the old TP Black?
