golf in april

coming from new jersey to hartford in mid april to school for work and may be able to slip out after class or my last day there the 21st.just looking for a decent muni not to expensive in the area or south of hartford heading home.any suggestions?

Here goes. Traditions of Windsor, Topstone, Quarry Ridge, Wittonbury, Mancherst CC, Blackledge, Tallwood, Portland CC, Tunxis, Lyman Orchards, Fox Hopyard. There are more that I haven't played. My favorite of these has to be Quarry Ridge. PM me when you get ready. Maybe we can get in a round or two.

Agreed on Lyman Orchards, 36 holes very reasonably priced, and definitely would be open in April, and in good condition for that time of year.

There's another one in Bloomfield, Gillete Ridge I think, that's supposed to be good, but I haven't played it.

Tunxis plantation is 45 holes, so very playable, but very flat and some what short in yardage.

Also, Fox Hopyard was mentioned, but I'm pretty sure that is more down by the shore. I think he might be referring to Blue Fox run, which is in Avon CT, two towns West of Hartford. Let me know if/when you have firm dates and need another player, I'd be interested.

Ah brings back memories. I grew up in West hartford. Is Manchester cc public, I think it was private back in the 70s. I grew up playing Rockledge and a few others.

Timberlin GC, in Berlin, CT. Its a very nice muni, under 50$ with a cart, recently redone with new bunkers and irrigation, and its always plenty green. Greens are always fine at the worst, and usually pretty nice. You gotta play this place, awesome

i play Keney all the time with my grandpa. its very cheap and the course is in better condition now than it was 10 years ago. Its not that bad. If you want a really nice course, Lyman Orchards and traditions at Wallingford are very nice. If you live in Jersey you can go to BethPage on the way back. :cheesy:
