Anyone played here before?

Sky Valley golf course is just inside Georgia from North Carolina. It reopened a year ago after a redesgin by Bill Bergin. The pics on the web site look real good. Just wondering if it is worth the drive from Knoxville and the $75 to play it.

I played it about 4 months ago. It was a real golf course. Tee boxes are perfectly flat, outlined, and cut close. The rough is just the right depth and the fairways are really close and nice. The greens roll true and are decently quick. I was not fond of the $75 price tag either, but the 3rd nine is only like $13. If you are going to play, play 27 not 18. Have fun!!!

Have you played Sky Valley recently? Can you tell me more of what you thought of the course.

I don't really remember specifics 6 months later. I do remember I liked the course alot!

For that price Laurel Ridge in Waynesville is a better bargain...

I do not think the redesign justifies the huge spike in fees...

I grew up playing at the old sky valley (owner was a friend) and the redesign is amazing! i was one of the first people to play it after it reopened and i must say i was really impressed. it is still a mountain golf course so if you dont like elevated tee shots stay away.

the new tees are beautiful, you could almost putt on them. the greens were very fast and the collection areas around them offered many choices of shots.

i cant say if its worth the money cause i did not pay to play but i is certainly a beautiful place to spend the day and a great test of golf

Sky Valley is terrific and well worth $75. I played Sky Valley in late August 2009 while on a visit to Highlands to look at real estate. Sky Valley was a real golf course and a refreshing break some of the short courses in Highlands that are all private clubs. Sky Valley is 6,900 yds. With my average carry of 240 yds, I was challenged from the back tees and used every club in the bag. The course was in good shape, the fairways were nice and the rough was long enough to create a serious challenge. The greens were very fast and many had difficult breaking putts. The holes had elevation changes and fairway undulations and it seemed like each hole presented a challenge. But it is not like some tricked up mountain courses; it is in a valley so there are no goofy holes with massive drops to the green. They are building what looks like a large new clubhouse. The driving range is only 150 yards long. I hope it will be able to succeed.

Sound like good news. I heard they run off their pro because he was running off people. I hope the new guy can keep the course going. I bet if they dropped their fees to $40, the tee sheets would be full.

I have played it recently and quite a few times. It is a pretty solid course. The redo helped a lot. There are better courses around the area and better values, but it is pretty solid. I would say it is worth the visit

I think it could be a success, but it needs to drop the rates. It is trying to compete with the courses in Highlands, and that can't be done.

I certainly don't think Laurel Valley would be a better value or course.

Drove through Sky Valley yesterday. Didn't get to play golf but got to see some of it. Looked really nice. The pro shop guys said its $49 now, $65 week and $75 weekend in the summer. Didn't ask about replay but I think that if you can get 36 holes for less than $100 would be good.

Has anyone played recent or have any comments would be great.

I played there last week. The course is in pretty good shape. The greens were a little slow and inconsistent, but when the grass starts growing they will be fine.
