R7 425 TP

Hi All,

I have been ready to hop on the R7 425 TP train and have seen several tour and retail heads and/or clubs for sale. Without turning this into a ugly "tour vs retail thread" I want to know how there can be a difference other than hot melting weight and face angle. USGA conforming list shows 3 heads approved in the R7 425 line USGA.

Thoughts?...............goldie

what do you expect it to become?? just go on all the different forums and search for it, i'm sure you'll find this topic started 10,000 times. I don't think that number 10,001 will offer up some magic answer for you. Sorry for being so harsh.

The fact is, that besides hot melt and adjustments to a players spec, ie loft and face angle.....there is no difference between the tour and the TP. One could even argue that the TP is better for you because it hasn't been tweaked for a particular player, especially if that tweaking is not what you need. It's hit or miss to find the tour issue TP that suits your game best. Trust me, this is not my opinion but fact and straight from the TM van and several TM staff players on tour. They actually get a kick out of the ridiculous hype that's been created.

I tried a couple of tour issue drivers (out of curiosity) from TM and found absolutley no difference.

If I were you, save the extra money and just get an R7 425 TP retail.

Tour clubs do not:

1) have magic dust that make you hit awesome drives

2) go 20 yards farther than their retail counterparts.

not to beat a dead horse but I think that this topic has been dealt with numerous times already... with most of them ending is some form of heated debate of controversy. I have LITTLE desire to see the same results from this thread.

I would therefore suggest doing a search for your info. Whether its the R7 425 or the R5 or the orig R7, I believe that the TP verses Tour issue has been adequately covered by earlier threads.

not one tour player has to pay for what they play either... so what's your argument ?

Maybe those top players don't play retail because the companies paying them to use their equipment custom fit each club to their specs. The only difference between tour and retial is that tour is custom built for one individual.

I can buy a retail club, have it adjusted to my liking just like the pro's.

Thanks for the confirmation Cardo, Stevie & JC. I have several tour issue clubs that fit my style of play from Y cutters to fw's (cally, adams, nike). My point was the USGA only shows 2 right handed R7425's. 1 the regular 425 and the other is the TP version. My gamer driver is a 580XD tour which did have a seperate designation showing it was different than the retail 580XD. Not trying to start a war, just looking for accurate info here. Another reason why I posted it here was I knew there wouldn't be repercussions for asking.

That's not what some people think. Worse, CLAIM! Especially point 2. :D :)
