RARE TITLEIST CUSTOM GRIND IRON'S

Hello Procombo. From what I can tell, they are definately square toe, the sole is flat (no radius or rounding), and a sharp leading edge. If I keep them I will definately have them bent to standard lie and pull the x-100 shafts so that I can replace them with my favorites which would be the s-400. I put them on a swing weight scale and they come in at D-5 but this is probably due to the fact that they are the 2-degrees flat and bending them to standard will probably make them closer to a D-4.

Here are some pictures of my Titleist Tour Model "Transition" irons in the bag. They have the back of the 1991-97 Tour Models (solid muscle back, no bullet cut), and the diamonds framing the grooves like the 1986-89 Tour Models. Also notice the sole of the wedge reads "Pitching Wedge 49* Loft" like the 1986-89 Tour Models do where as the 1991-97 Tour Models simply have a "P" on the sole of the wedge.

Hi Pro

I am waiting for Robert elkington to get back from caddying, He worked with Titliest as a rep for many years and he knows everything there is about the Custom models during that era.

I am hoping soon to have a full breakdown of all Custom grinds.

I am also tommorrow posting some pics of several different models

I can't help but put my "foot in it". IMO all the Tour Model / Custom Grind and extra Titleist stamping on the sole is unnecessary and distracts from the overall look of the iron…………. I prefer a much cleaner look where the line of the iron says it all. I don’t care if the guy walking past my bag “gets it”, in fact I hope he doesn’t.

Hey that’s just me, I am a newbee here……….. but I just thought I should offer a dissenting vote.

I love drooling over this thread.

I'm thinking hard abou the new 695 ZM sticks.

What do you guys that collect and admire traditional Titleist forgings think about the 2008 muscle backs?

Well the looks of the new ZM irons are great. I for 1, am kinda traditional concerning the look of my irons, both in the bag as by looking down on them setting them up. I love the thin topline and sole of the old titleist irons, the ZB and ZM look sort of "big" to me from looking at the pictures. Should there be a custom grind option wich enables me to reduce the topline and sole I would certainly buy them. The feel and unforgiveness of the traditionnal Titleist forgings is something you have to experience, nothing beats a pure sweetspot-shot with one of those older blades

Hi Guys and fellow Titleist Ho

Here are a few of my sets, I took some pics of the 6 iron faces so you could see the difference in the shape

Picture 6

Titleist Custom Transition model 94/95 ( Very Rare)

It is amazing when you see the clubs up against each other how different each set looks. The #9 are really small and the # 5 are really big, The Lehmans are much small than a standard set of 97 Tour models.

The #1 are small and very Square Almost like a block ha ha.

I have more plus I will post other veiw of irons from different angles
