Anybody have any idea about grind #20 or #29. New to the forums. I love my old blades and found this thread. Great pics guys. I currently play mizuno mp 29's and have a set of 681 t stamps in my closet in the original box. I will do my best to get some pics up at some point. I just ask about the #20 or #29 as I have seen them up for sale and was just curious about any info you guys mights have on them. Are those Lehman grinds still for sale Adam?

Hi and welcome to Golfwrx stt1118

If you ever need and help around here myself or one of the Mods will be only to happy to help you.

Love to see your pics of your irons.

I am waiting to get a custom number breakdown on Titleist custom grinds I hope very soon. It has been a while in the waiting and I am sorry for that.

Thanks

Hi Kool

Bullet Back Tour Model

They are the 1986-1990 Model.

In 86/89 they had Diamonds in the face and then in late 89/90 they had just grooves with no diamonds on the face.

Do your ones have Diamonds?

In 1986 this model was available in the satin as well.

The next Model was almost the same but no Bullet back Titleist Tour Model 1991-97

Great pics

Thanks for sharing them with us

Has anyone ever seen another set of those Tiger Miuras apart from the 127/500 set? Every picture I see of those irons is that set and whilst those are some sexy irons I know that set has been recromed.

Hi, I don't understand which set ur talking about. Do u mean the 681 T-Stamp set or another one? Or do u mean pics of another set besides the one numbered 127/500?

There should be a fellow WRX'er somewhere with a pic of the ltd edition set  , maybe JHR?

I know these aren't custom grinds but I figured the lefties needed some kind of a showing here in this post. I'm not sure when these were made. Every left handed set of Tour Models that I've seen look similar to these, except for slightly different grinds (and the cool custom finish). Does anyone have some info on these? Were they the only Tour Models made in LH or were there others?

there are some other views of the 6 iron in my witb post.

Hi Adam,

Do you know what difference the bullet back makes? (Tour Model 86-91 as opposed to 91-97).

Is it a performance thing or is it to take out a bit of weight from the head?

Cheers,

Simon

Hi Simon

The Bullet Backs and the Later model Tour Irons are nearly identical to hit. I have had both models and played both models over the years and the heads at address you can't tell the difference between them except the early Bullet backs had the diamonds in the face near the grooves.

Also the early model Bullet Backs had Dynamic shafts and not Dynamic Gold shafts in them so the ball flight was a little higher.

If you had a set of say 91 model bullet backs with no diamonds with Dynamic Golds and a set of 97's with Dynamic golds it would be almost impossible to tell them apart except for the bullet back muscle in the earlier clubs.

Does anybody know, if custom grind irons are still available through special order. I'm still hitting nothing better than the 681 irons, but they are pretty worn. I'm thinking about buying a set of Wilson FG 59, because they also seem to have a pretty high muscle to keep the ballflight down.

BTW does anybody have pictures of Davis Love's Proto irons from 1998. I think they were called DCI blade or Titleist 682. I saw them live in the 1998 Tour Championship and they had quite a narrow sole. A nice looking iron and I'd like to see them again.

Thanks

It also does not include true "Tour Only" forgings, notably the Forged DCI-B. (The forged version of the original DCI cavity back, before the 962s).

pegleg,

question regarding this statement from much earlier this year...

I had never heard of the DCI-B being forged. I played this set for a number of years, and still have them. I always thought they were cast. The titleist website has nothing on it, but why do you say they were forged? is there something on them that indicates whether they were a forged or cast set?

thanks in advance
