Hi guys,

I have been searching and reading about these two. I can get LR800 for $250 or v2 for $300. Is v2 worth an extra $50? Thanks for the help guys.

Check ebay for a Bushnell Tournament 1500. There's a bunch going for $290-$310.

Based on my experience using both units (1500 at Bethpage, v2 at a course I never played before) the 1500 is definitely a much better range-finder. Its great for getting yardages to bunkers, trees, and pins. Its very rugged too, waterproof.

My buddy's 1500 is going strong, while the other guy's V2 has already lost its battery cover. Both were bought at the exact same time.

I owned the Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 Tournament edition last year and just bought the Nikon Callaway LR800 - and I like the LR800 quite a bit better because it's not as bulky as the Bushnell 1500 Pinseeker Tournament Edition and in my view picks the targets just as fast, if not faster, than my Bushnell 1500 did (and the Bushnell was already very fast at picking targets)

I also like that the LR800 is waterproof, like the Bushnell 1500 Pinsekker was. The V2 is - as far as I know - NOT waterproof and is a downgraded version of the Bushnell 1500 Pinseeker.

As TM golf Guy says, the V2 has a flawed battery compartment door and seem to be made of cheaper quality materials than it's big brother. the Bushnell 1500, is.

The Callaway Nikon LR800 is NOT a downgraded version of the LR1200 model - it's just a lightweight version with 6X magnification instead of 7X magnification.

The LR800 has a nice rock solid built battery compartment door - not flimsy like the V2.

I picked the LR800 over the LR1200 - because of how bulky and heavy the LR1200 and the Bushnell 1500 is. The LR800 gets my highest recommendations - 6/6

Callaway Nikon LR800 is the best of both worlds - light weight, but not too small, very fast at picking the targets, water proof, long lasting battery, nice neoprene Callaway case and very simple to use :ok:

V2 = flaming pile of dog doo IMO. The battery cover is highly flawed. I have seen tons come back for warranties because of the stupid battery deal. The LR800 is a much better range finder for $50 less.

I've had the V2 for a year now... more than 100 rounds. No problems whatsoever. I don't even know what people are talking about with the battery cover. The Bushnell Medalist had a battery cover issue, and I'm thinking that someone is confusing that with the V2. The cover on my V2 is quite secure.

As far as performance is concerned, I can pick up a flag from 300 yards out, and if the flagstick has a laser reflector, from 500. I shoot bunker lips and trees and bushes all the time with no problems. I'm still on the original battery that came with the unit.

I have found it to be easy to use and quite trouble free.

+3....I have the V2 (scout 1000 or whatever the hunting version is)

original battery nearly a year in use

battery cover stays put - first I heard of that issue

honestly, only use few times a round, prefer SG5 skycaddie, no poinitng and shooting....jsut as accurate, as I've compared the two several times
