Played Luana Hills Country Club the other day. pm hacker/lo_pro_hitta66 and I got there early at 6:15am to await the first tee time for the day. It was a cold 65* for us in Hawaii. Yes JHR, Beruo....I know..you'd be wearing shorts....and we were too but it took a while for the sun to get up and warm up the place.

Luana Hills is located about three miles from Koolau Country Club. I like to call this place Jurassic Park. It's heavily forested along with having areas throughout the course with signs telling you to keep out because there are preservation area's located throughout. It's all target golf. I for one can't stand target golf and like bashing a driver off every par 4 and 5 but I found myself using mostly my Tourstage Fut U3 19* hybrid. I probably hit two drivers all day. Ravines run along on both sides of most fairways and also through many making accuaracy a must over distance. It's not my kind of course but the views and scenery are outstanding and I couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to play it.

From the tip's Luana Hills plays 6.579 yards, has a slope of 136 and a rating of 70.9. Here's the pictures....enjoy! :D


As you can see...it was a little dark when we got there!




How many cart paths have you been on that made you forget you were on a golf course? :)

I played that course a few years ago and it is awesome. I think it was a great value too compared to the other courses I played there.

:D Holy crap! I'm getting seasick just looking at those pictures. Absolutely beautiful course, but it doesn't look like there's a flat piece of land where you could rest your drinks! I'm guessing you didn't get on many greens w/ the bump-and-run approach! I'll keep laughter to a minimum about any possible triple-digit scores that may or may not have been logged. :) Lord knows I'd be laughing at myself had I played there!

Another great looking course Reid and Russ, i agree with beruo, can you get a flat lie on that course.

Reid I'm thinking that we should have the Golfwrx golf outing in Hawaii. You have some awsome looking courses and some breathtaking views.

 

What is the price of golf there?

Great pics... I played there while visiting family a couple of years ago... And yes, it's completely target golf there, but the scenery is unbelievable... We'll see if LH gets on the schedule for my trip in May. :D

This course will definitely be on my list when I visit Oahu again. I won't get to visit until sometime in late 2007, but I'm sure it's worth the wait!!

Terry...You haven't seen the best course that I like yet! Unfortunately I won't be able to get on it till September but I'll be sure to take the pics and post them here.

 

As for the rates...I'm not sure what the tourist rate is but for locals it was $54.

I'm not sure....Russ might know..but I remember they had a whole bunch of problems when they were finished and waiting to open. Actually the first time I played it was when it was still closed to the public. This outing was my second time there and the only thing that's changed was that I knew where the blind ravines were...not that it stopped my ball from going in them! :D

Great looking course guys. Kinda like golf in the jungle. As always I'm jealous and remind me not to read one of these Hawaiian golf course threads this time of the year.

That's the 11a Hole...a short Par 3, 150 yards but the difficulty comes from the elevation as well as the water everywhere. Getting the right club to hit that rater short but wide green is tough. In our foursome, only one person stayed dry. It was one of my few highlights for the day.;)
