please help - any thoughts on this set up?
Looking at picking this up but unfortunately can't hit it first. 90-92mph ss, smooth tempo but definitely accelerate through the ball. Anybody game this set up or have thoughts on it. Am I bettre off going D2? Much appreciated! Thanks!

Kind of an expensive gamble, but looking at your club signature I'm guessing you have a pretty good idea what might fit you. I'm sure you are aware that the Titleist Diamana BB is not the same as the "normal" Diamana BB - most people who like the normal BB don't seem to have a very high opinion of the Titleist version (softer, etc.). All that being said (and I'm not generally a fan of shafts that are re-profiled for a club manufacturer like the Titleist BB is), if it is a good fit for you, then it is a good shaft. As an example, in looking into the new 909 series (like you seem to be doing), I stumbled upon the Titleist version of the Ozik XCON 6 - hit it in a D-comp 10.5 earlier today and liked how it performed but thought it could use a lower spinning head and a lower trajectory, then found one this afternoon to try in a D3 10.5. This may cause a bit of eye rolling among Ozik Matrix fans (the Titleist XCON 6 doesn't look very similar to the real deal on paper - never hit the real one myself, but this one appears to be softened up a bit, like the Titleist BB), but I haven't enjoyed hitting a club that much in a long time. Maybe not any longer than a good drive with my 907 D2/V2 85, but certainly easier to swing for someone pushing 50, far more repeatable from a distance perspective and much easier to work. It ain't in the bag yet, but it may be headed that way.

Sorry to hijack a bit - to your question, I've also hit the Titleist BB, but not in the D3. It ain't a real BB, but it ain't a wet noodle either. Given your swing speed and given that the D3 head should take some of the spin off and reduce the tendency to balloon despite the kind of acceleration through the ball you describe (I do that too), a BB stiff might be a good gamble if you really can't find one to demo. Also, the D3 head is more forgiving/playable than I thought it would be. Hope that helps (it is late and I'm rambling).

JLN, thanks for the thoughtful reply! Just wish I could demo the D2 and D3 outside with the different setups so I can take the guess work out as much as possible. So that's one reason the Golfwrx family is so great! Any other thoughts appreciated!

I've had my 909 D2 10.5 voodoo stiff combo for about two weeks. Yesterday I went back to demo all the 909s again just to make sure I still "know" that my purchase fits (I have 30 days to trade the driver for any other)

I hit the D3 BB stiff 9.5* and didn't like it at all. The BB is too random coupled with the D3. One miss was a bullet the next a block the next hook, then a great penetrating flight. I realized how consistent the Voodoo is compared to the Titliest BB.

IMO you should be looking at the Dcomp or maybe the d2 with a low 90s swingspeed.

Also, These heads spin lower than your current 907 D2 so that'll bring the flight down if you keep the same loft in the 909 D2 head. The 9.5 D3 head will bring your flight waaay down.

If you like your VS proto the Voodoo will feel great.

Buy all 3 then sell 2? You'll never know what could have been if you don't hit all three.

I liked the VooDoo as well - hit it better in the D3 than the D2. But after spending another day with the D3/Ozik club I'm going to leave it in the bag for awhile and see if it takes. The X-CON 6 shaft (albeit the Titleist version) in a D3 head did what I wanted it to do as far as taking some spin off and lowering the trajectory a bit vs. the D-comp, while still retaining a good helping of controllable kick and carry to it. I feel 10 years younger swinging this club compared to my 907 D2/V2 86 gram driver. I may regret not giving the Voodoo/D3 more consideration as it was hard to hit that club anything but straight, but the Ozik is just so much fun (plus the Ozik hybrid shaft in my Adams hybrid is worth its weight in gold, so I already had confidence in the brand, even if it is the Titleist version - in contrast, I've historically had a hate-hate relationship with Aldila shafts).

I'm surprised I like this club as I never had much luck with previous iterations of Titleist's deeper faced, low spin heads.

as mentioned to Freddie the original poster, I do enjoy this combo of the 909D3 10.5 degrees and the stiff Diamana BB by Titleist shaft at 44.5". So I thought I'd share in hopes of helping others on their 909 journey. I, too, have a fairly smooth tempo (mid 90's) and have found the ball flight and distance to my liking: it's not too high and it launches it just right. I'm here in SoCal and have played a good number of rounds already have found it consistent and a well performing club combo.

I started my search trying the stock shafts offered by Titleist, knowing full well that I can switch to other upgraded shafts easily with the 909's. I started with the thought that the VooDoo would be my fave, but I found the VooDoo by Titleist a weaker shaft vs. say the Diamana BB by Titleist. The more and more I got agressive with my swing the more unstable and whippy the VooDoo felt. The BB was more stable through impact even at higher swingspeeds and more responsive to my overall swing needs. The distance was awesome and I realized how much spin was generated by my 907D2 versus this new 909 D3 head - a lot less spin for sure, it's very impressive - kudos to Titleist. By the way I'm coming off of the same type set up as the OP (Freddie) - a 907D2 w/ a stiff UST V2 76 grams. The BB is a lot lighter and again in my opinion worked best for me. I do not think you'll be disappointed. If you are disappointed, the shafts are much easier to exchange than in the past Titleist set ups, so you can restart if you need to. I wouldn't worry about losing any club integrity with a switch.

I hope this helps. Enjoy the game!
