Grafalloy Blue Shaft -Driver Advise
Hello All,

I'm looking for advise on a decent driver clubhead that would suit this Shaft the best , i.e. Graffalloy blue stiff.
i have a G10 9 deg, but I'm not too overly confident with this driver (might be the 46 TFC shaft has not helping).
I'm thinking of going with a second hand 905 R or 907 D2 or...etc

Are there any grafalloy blue experts/lovers out there that would recommend a decent head for this shaft.

Thanks in advance

G

Thanks for the reply. I have read & heard that the 905R is an excellent driver and is a very good combo with

the grafalloy.

But shouldn't (in theory as its newer technology - assumption!!) the G10 be a hotter & more forgiving head with this shaft, or is the 905R that good! Why would you think this such a good combo?

thanks a mil.

The G10 is a decent driver. I had one for a couple of weeks with the V2 shaft and was never really happy with it. I changed to a 907D2 with the V2 shaft and the difference was like night and day. Titleist drivers are SOLID. The G10 felt a bit tinny, was not as long as the Titleist or more forgiving.

I played the 905R with a 757 speeder shaft and still have this driver as a back up and always will. I know it would perform very well if shafted with Grafalloy Blue. The reason I think it would be a good fit is that the 905R head is heavy, straight faced and very solid. The Grafalloy Blue always performed well with heavy driver heads

I am a hugh Grafalloy Blue lover and have tried it in many different heads (Callaway 454, FT3, Cleveland HiBore, Titleist 905T and R)

but always seem to come back to the same manufacturer.... Taylormade...

I've had a Graffalloy Blue in a R580, R5, R7, Burner 07 and my current Superquad, and it for me it always seems to perform best in these heads.... my Superquad is great, very reliable...

I'm tempted to slot one into a Cobra L4V I have lying around as well, just for the fun of it.....

I have a Comp NT in a Taylormade driver and love it.

I also have a Blue that I'm thinking about putting in a 3 wood...maybe V Steel or a Nak head I just bought on here.

anyone have experience with the Blue in a FW?

I also have a PL Blue...I assume that shaft would bring the launch up from a regular Blue?

(sorry to hijack the thread)

I recently got the 905R With the Blue Tour X (slightly heavier than the standard one) and it is a really bomber. Really high launch and low spin. Havent really used it too many times yet but it might replace my 907D2 with the V2 85 X shaft which is still an awesome combination. The 907D2 head is more forgiving in my opinion and it just wants to go straight but it does seem to spin a bit more. I have the 8.5deg head in the D2 and with the shaft combination I dont get any floaters although sometime I do lose roll.

I also bought a 905S with the Blue S so I will see how this one turns out.

I dont see why people would pay more than $100 for shafts when you got options like the Blue and V2 shafts.

Either way, you cant go wrong with 905R or 907D2 head with the Blue.

Gehly, I have the matching 904F with the Blue Tour X shaft and it absolutely bombs also. Although, I think I prefer the 906F2 head which is not draw biased and I have that with the V2 85 X shaft. I am still trying out which combination is better, the slightly older 905R and 904F with the Blue or 907D2 and 906F2 with the V2.

Adam Scott used to use the Blue with his FW as well. There is a swingvision on youtube with him on that. Pure club, pure swing......

Thank you for all the feeback!!

I'll have to make up my mind soon, with the two ( or 3) drivers that i can get my hands on

905R 9.5. , TM R7 460 9.5 (or R7 425 TP 9.5 with rombax 75gm (too heavy for me!)

From I what i can tell, anyone one of these would be a good choice???? T

R7 460 is spinny --- some need it, most don't.

R7 425 is a good head...about average all the way around.

905R is lower spin, lower launch..a bit less forgiving. Great pear shape.

G10s are nice heads that many people I know love. Certainly "newer-tech" than the rest, but how much is that worth?

Choose whichever gives you the most confidence.

Grafalloy Blue is a great shaft---still in play on PGA Tour.

the 905r and 905t are bore through heads???

the already tip stiff grafalloy blue would be ridiculously tip stiff unless i'm mistaken. I play a grafalloy blue in a cleveland launcher and still play it until something kicks it out. I am contemplating a 905r because i have heard great things... just don't know if a pulled grafalloy blue would work at all in it.

Blue fan here as well always performed well in my Taylormades. I will be testing the '07 Burner TP with the Pro Launch 65S tomorrow. One thing to add tip size of the shaft you have will also be a deciding factor as to which head to use.

Cally 9.5 Xhot Fuel TS 60 tipped
RBZ Stage 2 Tour 16.5* HL Attas 7S
909H 17*, 21* &24* V Steel

  • 2 weeks later...

the only shaft i like other than the blue is the proforce ust v2 75 stiff... it seems a touch less stiff than the blue.... however i haven't hit an x stiff version of it???

I wish i could. I love the V2 though in a stiff 75 gram version... though i felt the tip is definately not as stable but it is a really low torque shaft.

if you have a swing in the 100-110 range i bet it would be great... I am around 110-117 and wonder if i should go x or stiff. Like I said the stiff 75g seems a little more flexy than the grafalloy blue stiff which really is a beast

I use the blue in an 907D2 and in a sonartec 16° 4 wood. It's a low spinning shaft so the 16 still has a very boring flight. It play pretty stiff though, as others have mentioned. I really like the D2/blue combo but will give the iMix ft9 a try with it next... ;) I also liked the NT comp but eventually went back to the blue as the NT didn't feel or perform as well on mishits as the blue.
