KB Tours to flex/weigh Similar to PX 6.0

Hardstep 5.5's or Softstep 6.5's

Curious which way to go to get close to a Project 6.0 in KB Tour, Hardstep the 5.5 or Softstep the 6.5?? Step 1 or 2 steps?

Appreciate any guidance or experience, thanks!

I think I'd softstep the 6.5 once. Twice would make mathematical sense except that I find the PX play a trifle stouter. Either way could work, though. Hardstepping won't work as well because the wedge and 9i shafts are the same, meaning you'd be playing the same shaft from SW to 7i or 8i.

I used to play 6.0 rifles and went to a soft stepped 6.5 kb tour. It came out to about a 6.2ish, which works out perfect for me!

Why would that be a problem?

Might not be a problem but the effect would be that the clubs got (slightly) progressively stouter as they got longer. In effect you'd have a double hardstep of the 8i relative to the PW since it would be 14 grams lighter but on the same shaft.

I expect the effect would be marginal though. How about tipping them? As far as I am aware, tapers can be tipped sufficiently to hard step once or perhaps even twice?

Wrong< you can't tip trim a taper tip shaft, it will no longer fit in the hosel. Paralell .370 is no problem. The 5.5 KBS frequency's out to 5.8 on the Rifle scale even though it may not feel like it, "they feel softer than they really are because they are so smooth". I got this straight from KBS customer service before I softstepped my 5.5's

No... really.... they can be tipped a little and still fit in the hosel. Many things can be made to work with sufficient effort, or sometimes even with very little effort. ;)

I assume that you are talking about the regular KBS Tour shafts. Do you have any flex info on the Tour 90 shafts?

I softstepped the 6.5. Came out absolutely perfect. I think the 5.5s are a little on the light side(120 vs 130 if I remember correctly)...that may be something you want to consider too...
