Vector session, need shaft advice

Just got back from Edwin Watts and their indoor Vector fitting session. I was hitting a G10 xstiff prolaunch red and was still hitting it fairly high with the specs below.

Swing Speed 110-118
Ball Speed was upwards of 165
Spin was consistently around 2300-2500
Side spin was not too bad cant remember the numbers though
Launch was somewhere consistently between 11-14
Also the shortest I hit was 285 with the longest being 312

Anybody have any suggestions to improve on this. I do not have a G10 it was the only demo they had with and Xstiff shaft. I have an R7 Patriot LTD that is 9.5* so should not make a huge difference I woudl think. I am looking for suggestions as I have an NVS in it now and it deffinety hits it way high. What are my options as far as low spin low launch shafts such as the ProLaunch Red.

Help me out just getting greedy what can I say.

i wouldnt say 11-14* launch is 'too high'

 

14*'s probably not far from where you want to be, I wouldn't want to go lower than that. Infact going up in launch may help overall distance. It'll certainly help carry.

You can find PM702's for a good price on ebay (<$100). Not going to find a shaft that is much lower launch than that. That ProLaunch Red you hit is another good choice.

 

If you can't get your launch down with those shafts you might want another head, maybe in 8.5*.

14-16 with 2000 RPMs would be ideal. If the spin is low you shouldn't need to go down in launch. Lower launch would mean less distance if the spin rate is good.

So what you guys are saying is that with the 9.5 I should be good with launch, but I need to find another shaft that will get me down around 400 more RPM in spin. Any ideas on that one if I cant get there with the Pro Launch Red?

 

What about Rombax z series? Or whiteboard?

If you are satisfied with your launch angles, the Whiteboard and Z series are good choices. If you want to raise your launch, while maintaining your spinrate, you could go Fubuki or X Con (ozik). The new Axivcores are good as well. Red for low launch, low spin and Black for high launch low spin. They are a little less pricey than the Diamana, Fubuki, X Con, or Fuji, but they MIGHT spin the ball a little more for you, not sure on that one. I play a Fubuki in my driver, which has raised my launch and lowered my spin at the same time, I can't praise this shaft highly enough...

I believe that those numbers are very good but if you want you can lower your spin with a different golf ball. Here in Orlando we have the ball fitting software and, maybe, we can fit you with a ball that can lower your spin.

This is an important point actually. What golf ball were you using for the fitting? Is it your normal ball?

I normally play a provx but I was hitting what I believe was a tm black during the fitting.

11* to 14* launch pretty much covers the range.....would need a consistent number to see if you need lower loft, which I don't think you need.

 

But your spin is fine, wouldn't want to go much lower.

 

Looks like you need a shaft with an overall stiffer profile that doesn't take all of the spin away.

 

Perhaps a Blueboard X flex, V2 or V2 Tour ..... I haven't tried the new AXIS Tour models but that's a possibility ... even a 757.

 

If you go to a tour event you'll see that many of those guys really launch their drivers way high in the air---mid-speed out there is probably 114, I think.

so i guess by my using my R7 Patriot at 9.5 I shoudl be fine with launch at probably a consistent 13 -15 and just need to settle on a shaft. So I will narrow my choices down to the Pro Launch red that performed great in the G10, the z series rombax and maybe a red axiv. Any ideas on the choices?
