Whats the best Oakley lens for Golf??

I'm creating a custom pair of Oakleys on their website and i was wondering whats the best lens for golf.

 

I'm looking for a lens that has good depth perception and is not too dark. I would like to be able to see greens clearly without taking them off.

 

Also, would you recommend polarized lens? Is it worth the extra $20?

dont get polarized lenses. they reduce glare therefore making grain very difficult to read.

How to I tell what Black Iridum's are G30's?

 

When i go to customize it only shows G30's as a redish color. Im looking for a dark colored lense to go with the white frames.

 

Also, would these be the G30 lenses? It only says black iridum

G30 with out any doubt. I have them in a pair of crosshairs. I find that I read the greens better with them on than off. they are light, and looking into late day sun can be bad, but any other time they are perfect.

There is a G30 and G30 Black Iridium, both have the same rose base. The G30 Black Iridium has a heavier silver mirror that makes them a little darker. Go with the G30 Black Iridium.

I have used G30's for over 3 years and I love them. Definitely the way to go for golf.

I use the G30 in all my Oakleys when I'm playing. Try them and you will not want to try another lense.

Did you buy the Radars? I know you said you had Flak's already.

 

I bought a pair of White Radars with G30's and a Pair of Black Flak's with the Gray Lens for everyday use. Can't wait. How do you like them.

No don't have the Radars, just the Flak Jackets, but wanted to post them in two different frames, and I think next to the Flak Jacket, the Radar is by far the raddest looking frame for golf : ) They are Oakley's two best looking plastic frames. I have a pair of Black Cross Hair's that I like from the metal frame dept.

 

Don't forget to take the shades off when you are taking your shot, gives the sun some time to tan your face otherwise you'll end up with a knarley sunglasses tan, and no one wants that : )

just got off the phone with Oakley, and after the sales rep acting like a b****, I decided against purchasing their product.

WOW! I am surprised,very surprised, I called them and even tho I was getting the lenses for $25 bucks, I got them the very next day when the rep saw they had been on order for 5 days.

Base on Oakley site, the VR50 lenses is under Golf specific section as well. Which are better to wear on the green, G30 or VR50? TIA!

Radars, Flak Jackets,

I'm new to the world of sunglasses on the course, did some research (here of course) and picked up the Flak Jackets with G30s. It's been raining cats and dogs so I have not tried them yet, but did address the ball with them on at home. I found I was a little disracted by the smallish lens size - if I was not looking straight ahead, I could see the lens edge out of the corner of my eye or looking down. Wondering now if the Radar is a better choice with it's larger size and wrap around style.

Did you get the XLJ's? They are the longer version and have less of an opening for you to see out of with your peripheral vision.

I did not. When I was in the store, it did not even think about the peripheral vision issue. I'll go back and try on some different styles. I knew about the XLJs, just was rushing a little and did not take enough time.

Has anyone tried the VR50's? I need to order some new lenses as I now need a perscription and I like the idea of the photocromatic lenses.

 

Also, do people prefer vented or non vented?

Ya the XLJ's are a must with the Flak Jackets IMO.

 

The VR50 is more of a bright light lense from what I gather, like white snow light, seen them in goggles, and def reduced the glare.

I have a very broad head, so I need either M Frames or Radars. Also Oakley do 2 different fits, normal and Asian, make sure you did not try on the Asian fit.

LOL.. it might have been an asian fit.. it was at a store that services an asian based clientele and sells JDM equip.. whats the "asian" model?
