By "something", I interpreted this as meaning "one thing" as opposed to "a bunch of things executed in sequence". If you instead meant the latter, then I would change my vote. But I won't say how I voted since its a "Secret Poll". :D

Hogan had a few epiphanies in his day. I still have no time for secrets.

 

All of the above were things Hogan did.................if he wanted to.

strictly answering the question, No, it wouldnt help other pros, but he had a secret that helped him improve. it is well documented that he had a secret which got rid of his hook, and that he used that secret from then on.

 

there are basically 3 hogans, a bad player, a great player, and the greatest ballstriker.

 

the great player in the middle is often overlooked, even abused here, which is strange given how quick the transition from bad to great was. IMHO this transition involved power golf much of 5 lessons and about a dozen secrets. a draw based swing, as was the norm in america, which threw in the odd duck hook.

 

he figured out the hook, stock shot became a fade, and went from great player to greatest ballstriker. this transition involved the secret. IMHO, from then on, the secret became the cornerstone of his swing and he fine tuned the fundamentals which had made him great pre secret around this cornerstone.

 

so the secret turned the self taught best of the year into the best of the century, but on its own the secret would probably have done nothing for his fellow pros.

If he did have a secret, What that secret was, is about as debatable as the existence of God.

 

the first is about debating the validity of historical documents, the second is about a leap of faith some make from those documents.

 

on the plus side of the first debate, you have historical evidence of a man who changed his stock shot shape over a 2 week break, and when asked about how he did it he said "i have a secret". ( Hogan, by the way, not Jesus :) )

 

If anything, both topics give many the opportunity to crap on about it for eternity.

I voted yes, I think the way he saw the tool in his hand was different to everybody else....and it would help most to be better than they are now.

 

They would hit it better than he did if they knew because today's equipment is ridiculously easy to use.

Thanks for your very clever and amusing reply to my post. Regretfully, i fear i may be out of my depth regarding both subjects and perhaps shouldn't have opened my pie hole in the first place. :rolleyes:

 

It's impressive to me the ability of many to debate Mr Hogan's secret ad nauseum, but granted i've not had Hogan devotees banging on my door trying to convert me to their verion of The Secret, so the religious referance was not necessary.

 

That said, i'm off to crap on about far more 'relevant' subjects such as Phil Mickelson's choice of waistbelts, why people hate tiger's caddy, and which Scotty Cameron putter is best. Or do some work :wave: Regards
