Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6

Went to Golfsmith today to try out the SC Fastback. I liked it but was not overwhelmed. I saw a 2.6 and gave it a try and really liked it... seemed to fit my stroke nicely. Right now I am playing a SC Circa 62 no.1 and prefer standing more over the ball than most. Is the 2.6 made for players who prefer a more over the ball stance?

nope, it is designed for someone who is "right eye" dominant...which is why you probably like it.

Great putter.

How in the heck is one type of putter eye side dominant? Does nnot make sence to me.

It just is the 2.6 has the copy cat behind the shaft dot ala SEE MORE that helps you square the face.

That and the NO offset is why you love this model putter as I do also.

It is not center shafted and not face balanced, but strokes as if it is.

I love the Cameron Studio Select line.......his best in years.

I dont know about the dominance of one eye or another but this putter works for someone like me who needs a center shafted, but not a face-balanced putter and or prefers the look of a blade putter.

I just dont like the feel of the stroke on this putter.

Even the "heavy" version feels "loose" to me.

I prefer the Bettenardi / Mizuno BC5. although I have not obtained the greenbacks to buy one yet.

The center shafted putter that gets your eyeline inside the putter head is meant for a "right eye" dominant players. It enables you to look "directly down" your line instead of being overtop of the ball and looking right of your target.

I love my custom 36.25" w/2 sight lines on top, Newport 2.6. I always used a Bulls Eye putter, (I'm Old School), but this is so forgiving, middle shafted and almost total toe down (5:30) I don't like the look of an offset putter, maybe because I am right eye dominate? I'm not sure. Thank you Scotty!!

The center shafted 2.6 "see-more" style putter is not for right eye dominant players. Nothing about that putter favors any particular eye dominance.

I am left eye dominant and it's the best putter I've stroked. I have tinkered with different eyes open and closed with the See More putters and the dot doesn't really move.

I am right eye dominant.

The Cameron 2.6 was one of the putters in my final 3.

I thought I needed a center or close to center shafted putter because of my fairly straight back and straight through putting stroke.

I think I watched too much Dave Pelz.

After hitting about 20 different putters and brands I ended up liking the Cameron Newport 2, Cameron Newport Midslant and the Cameron 2.6.

I hit about fifty putts with each alternating every 10 to 12 putts.

With one of the putters I sunk 12 15 foot putts in a row and thought I was hitting the Newport 2.

I looked at the putter and realized I was hitting the Midslant.

I hit a few more putts with each to confirm my decision.

I found that not only did the Midslant perform most accurately for me I also thought it had the smoothest, sweetest and purest feel out of the three.

Although is was still a good feeling putter, I felt that the 2.6 had the least desirable feel of the three putters.

Using a slight exaggeration to make a clearer analogy: The 2.6 felt like I was hitting putts with a straight stick with a stainless steel block on the end and the Midslant felt like a was stroking putts with the same deft feel, touch and accuracy as a tour pro.

Everybody has there own putting style and technique, but one of the most commonly accepted techniques is to have your eyes directly over the ball at address.

It is fairly easy to tell, but you can use a plum bob to see where your eyes are at address. I don't know if I have ever seen someone putt with there eyes past or outside the ball at address.

I would think you would feel and look sort of weird at address looking back at the ball.

Of course I am going to try it for fun.

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I'm pretty sure a 0 offset putter like a center shafted would theoretically favor a left eye dominant right handed putter. There was just a thread about this in the swing forum. There was a link to this website, which I found interesting.

I have to agree with bbgator (even though I'm an LSU Tiger fan :-)). I was fitted for a putter about a year ago and the fitter had me do an eye dominance test. I already knew I am left-eye dominant (I shoot a gun left handed because of it , even though I am right handed). No question, the center shafted putters with minimal or no offset were easily the best for me. It immediately became apparent to me and I have much more confidence over the ball.

I just bought a 2.6 from ebay. I wanted to try one for some time.

Felt when rolling a few in the house, its a little hard to align. When looking down, are you meant to have the shaft covering the back of the putter, like a SeeMore?

After reading this thread and the "right eye dominant" comment, i tried it with my left eye closed, and it lines up perfectly.

Anyone with experience of the 2.6?

Thanks
