Nike One Tour D

Mini-Review
I haven't seen anything on these new balls, so I thought I'd add my .02.

Played in a scramble last Friday & Nike had a mobile shop set up. Everybody got a $200 gift card to use in the tent before play. I picked up 4 dozen of the new Nike One Tour D's. The rep in the tent said that these were meant to go up against the Pro-V1x, which is what I had been playing. He said they were very similar to the original One Black. I had every intention of trading these in for more Pro-Vx's & didn't see anything in the tent that caught my eye.

Anyway, decided to try a sleeve since it was a scramble, wouldn't hurt if I didn't like them. Little info about me so you can compare apples to apples. I'm a 0 handicap, thanks to a good short game. I have a very strong left hand grip & let's just say that working it left is not a problem for me! I'm not a high spin player & my divots are pretty small. Wedges for me typically take a hop & stop, don't really pulls a lot of them back. Of course, we're on Florida bermuda, not smooth, receptive bent......mmmmm, bent......I've probably got an average swing speed, low 100's.

Driver: Longer than the X, but not a huge margin. The ball feels a lot firmer off the club head, not range ball hard though. It really reminded me of the old Titleist DT. I think the main difference in distance comes down to the roll. I think they carry about the same. I have no scientific data to back that up, just feel on a course that I've played a lot.

Spin: They spin more than the X. I hit it lower with the irons, but into the wind, I have floated a few. Last night, with the wind in our face, I hit a 6 iron from 166. With no wind, that distance is in between 7 & 8, but there was a good wind. The ball just stood up. I was 30 yards short & flushed the 6 iron. Talk about climbing a ladder, that ball flat got dominated. I did have a couple of 100 yard wedges actually back up. I found that I was bringing wedges back 7 & 8 feet.

Durability: This ball is not as durabe as the X. After 9 holes it was chewed up pretty good & hadn't been introduced to any trees or cart paths. I can get 18 out of the Pro Vx, but not the Nike.

Putter: They are firm coming off the putter. Again, reminded me of the old DT.

Overall: The Nike One Tour D is a good ball. I'm going to keep them in the bag for now & not trade them in. Due to the durability issue, I probably won't be forking out $45 a dozen after that. I need a ball that can take a beating, for those days that I've got the sprayer on high!

Again, haven't seen anything on this ball. This is the first review that I've ever done, but I hope it helps.

I am a high ball, high spin player and had to go with the D instead of the Tour. zi was sucking the Tour 20 feet back with full wedge shots and just couldn't get used to that. Now with the D, the ball just sticks where it lands with maybe a couple of feet backspin. i like it. The feel of the Tour is much better, but what are you gonna do?

Great..thanks for the review. I've wondered if these were decent, and currently play the 09 One Black and wondered if these were an improvement. They sound very similar to the 08 ball. Doubt its worth the extra $15 right now to upgrade.

Played the Nike Tour D for the first time yesterday--pretty darn good ball. I didn't have my "A" game and was driving the ball poorly so it was hard for me to tell if I lost any distance vs. my B330s go to ball. The ball stops quickly, feels good of the putter and you can feel it compress when struck well. Really good ball which I will play again. I had a long 200 yard shot into the green (hybrid) and usually on this type of shot the B330s will hit and run off the back green, the Tour D hit and stoped in about 8 feet from where it landed. The ball doesn't spin with the wedges as much as the B330s, it just plain stops rather than backing up.
