Just got a Scout 1000

A friend of mine went to the Cabela's in Triadelphia, WV this evening. I told him to give me a call when he got there so he could tell me if there were any deals on rangefinders. He called and said "I found one for 119.99 on sale, but it's probably not a quality unit." I asked what it was and he said Bushnell. Then he told me the model. I had him buy it for me on the spot. I've been playing with it for a few hours, and it seems to work great. I'm really happy because the best I had seen on the internet was 212.00 from Amazon.

I can't wait to get it out on the course.

Anybody near that Cabela's who is thinking of getting one should definitely do it, I'm not sure how many they have left.

Wow! Was that price for a brand new item, refurbished or used?

I bought the same model off from a Golfwrx.com member here on the BST forum for a tiny bit more than a $100, used, but in AWESOME condition. Yep, it's a very good laser range finder for me, weekend player. It makes a difference knowing more accurate distances when one's within 150 yds. and in. I'm a believer now!

Brand new, I was floored when he told me. This will be my first experience playing with one, and I know it'll be beneficial.

are these the same as the V2's? does the scout 1000 have pinseeker?

These are exactly the same in function as the V2. I compared my manual to the online manual for the V2 last night. "Pinseeker" mode on the V2 is called "Bullseye" mode on the Scout 1000. Both of these modes do the same thing: display the yardage for the closest object even if background objects present a larger signal. Other than that and a slight cosmetic difference, they are the same.

Doesn't look like the original poster is checking the thread at the moment, so I'll just stop by my local Cabellas in a couple hours and see if this is a nationwide sale or if it's simply a price tag mixup.

 

Sounds to me like it's a one-of-a-kind mistake price.........

I don't know if it's an in store sale at my location (Triadelphia, WV), a fluke, or if they are discounted at all Cabela's store locations. I hope they are available this cheap everywhere so all of you can take advantage of it.

Just to keep this confusing - I stopped by the Cabellas in Hoffman Estates, IL and it was NOT discounted.

 

Matter of fact, it was $250 - which was $50 more than what they're offering it for on their website.

 

........maybe I should have had the clerk run it under a price scanner? But the tag said $250.

Never heard this Cabela's referred to as the Triadelphia location and not the Wheeling Store.

 

I stop by there once in a while when I have to work in the area. Always able to find a few good deals, though non golf related, every time I stop.

Just bought one from Cabela's on-line. They still show price of $199.99 but I told the operator that there was an in-store special on them and after several minutes wait-time, she came back on the line to tell me that they would honor the instore price.

 

I would suggest that anyone interested in this rangefinder give it a try. It worked for me. This seems like a really good deal.

I got one of these last year online for about $180 after rebate, I thought that was a great deal.

 

Mine has worked great so far. I've even had it drop out of a moving cart and land on the cartpath, and other than a little scratch, its still works perfectly. Highly recommended.

I called the Cabellas I visited in person last night, talked to a manager and she said they'd "absolutley" honor a price match on another store's in-store special.

 

So I'm heading over there at lunch in a few minutes to seal the deal (hopefully).

 

This might be your best bet if you live within driving distance of a store. Just remember the stores that have the instore special (Owatonna, MN and Wheeling, WV).

Well, after three seperate phone calls it appears that they've fixed it in their system. They've noted the $119.99 price is a mistake. Congrats on those who picked it up at the lower price.

Don't be so quick to throw in the towel on this incredible deal.

 

I called my Cabellas and asked if they'd honor another store's in-store sale. They said "absolutely", so I went to the store and got the deal!!

 

I went to the Customer Service counter, told them why I was there. The employee told me to go get the product and bring it back. Normally you have to pay for the Scout at the optics counter, but I told the guy I was getting it price matched at the CS desk and he let me go.

 

I go back to the CS counter with the Scout and tell her the price it's supposed to be ($119.99) and she corrects me. Turns out it's in their computer system as $119.88! So they didn't have to call any other stores or anything.

 

It's in their system as $119.88!! So go run to your local Cabellas and do what I just did. It might just work, and the worst that happens is they say no.

Well unfortuniatly Cabela's has figured this mistake out. I just tried 3 times, spoke to 3 different people and they would not sell the Scout 1000 for the 119.99 price. If you have the name of the person you talked to from the on-line store, please forward it to me, as I have been looking and comparing this to the golf model, and found that it is the same one. Thanks

It was a mistake. Apparently, the price was keyed in mistakenly as 119.95 instead of 199.95. After I called the on-line store and ordered one, they must have reviewed the pricing for the Scout and quickly changed it across the system. When I realized what had happened and that this was a mistake and not a real price, I canceled my order with Cabela's. I know this seems like a stupid thing to do but, under the circumstances, I didn't think it would be ethical to take advantage of someone else's bad fortune.
