Has anyone played Jacob Riis Pitch and Putt?

I am a new golfer living in Kew Gardens I have played at a course once (heartland) loved it but hated the drive. I was looking for a place closer to home I thought Flushing Meadow would be a good start but I saw the driving range mat tee boxes and the 50 yard holes and figured nah. Riis looks better parking right on site holes upwards of 140 yards and I read it was free. And although I doubt its free these days, I still figure it would be more authentic aside from what I fear which is range mat tee boxes I am going tomorrow morning I figure the range is sort of useless I have decent mechanics but need the experience of that tee box anxiety and general feel of the game. I really want to shoot at playing a course such as Douglaston or Forest Park by late summer before I go back to school and its lake effect snow. Thanks for any help I would play the LI courses such as Morley Park but the public parks are ridiculous 30 bucks for a non resident what a crock.

I used to live in Kew Gardens [Lefferts and Met] and when my local friends and I wanted a quick round on a short course we went to Kissena Park located on Booth Memorial Rd. near 164th street I think it is. I'm sure you can find out more on the internet. Also, what about Clearview Golf Course off the Van Wyck? :rolleyes:

 

EDIT: The most important thing about golf is having ETIQUETTE! Remember, there are other people playing and you must be courteous at all times as you would them to be toward you. Have fun and good luck.
