Srixon Z-star/Z-star X

Play them this week - impressed.

Well, after all the hype these balls have been getting I broke down an bought a sleeve of each this week for a round. Played 9 with the Z-star X / 9 with the Z-star.

Playing conditions.

Elevation 3500 '. Temp - 85*F

Ball that I usually play - Callaway Tour iX or Bridgestone B330 (black).

Findings - I was really impressed with the distance both offered. The Z-star X was longer than the Z-star. Feel on the X was a little harsher than the standard. The standard star was awesome around the greens and had a nice soft feel off the putter. Both balls held up extremely well. I took some huge wedge shots on both and neither ball had significant scuffing compared to my Callaway. All in all, I think I liked the feel of the standard Z star better than the Z star X.

Conclusion - I still think the Cally iX is longer than either Srixon, however the Z star X is longer than the B330. I never liked the B330S and would compare the standard Z star to be in between the B330 and B330S as far as feel goes. The Cally and the B330 do not hold up as well as the Z stars. No dirt buildup or scuffing compared to the Bridgestone or Cally.

Srixon balls have found a place in my bag for now! Two thumbs up.
