I agree, that the fairways are in really good shape at Red Tail, but the greens were awful when I was up there last week. There were hideously slow and bumpy as anything. Did you think the greens were good when you played there the last 2 times? This was mid day on a Saturday when I was there also so no excuse for them not to have been cut or anything. I was impressed with the condition of everything but the greens this early in the season nevertheless.

I played again today. They're not A-grade greens but they rolled very true for me. For example, the first green has a lot of patches of light green, but there isn't much in the way of dead spots etc. The collars are cut very sharply. I guess I could see someone not liking the greens but I was more than happy with them. Different days are different days though, I may just have gotten a better afternoon to play. They were pretty fast today. I nearly holed a 60 footer only to see it continue another 15 feet past the hole.

$41 including cart is quite a deal, especially given the reviews I've seen of Red Tail. Might try to get out there later this week, or early next week, depending on the weather. Is the course empty enough at that time to really get 18 in?

The last two times I've gone out, I've run into leagues. It's not bad, though. One time they worked me in, sending me ahead a few holes to pair up with a single ahead of league play. Played 13 holes and packed it in with about 45 min of sunlight left. The other times I've gone out it's been fine. By 7 or so there's only a few people left on the course and you can go through very quickly (especially if you're staying through the green and not hunting for lost balls). I've finished 18 before and it shouldn't be hard now given that you have about 4 hours before sunset.

Best to call ahead in the afternoon to see if there's going to be any organized play that evening. I like to show up 4:30 - 4:45 so I can warm up and then tee off right at 5.

Have you guys checked out any of the teetime deals on EZlinks or Golfnow? Granite Links is $87.50 vs $125.00, yeah they only offer a couple of those rates per day but why worth saving a few bucks!

I used EZ-L to book a teetime last year at Quail Ridge for $39.00 w/ cart.

I am possibly looking at Monday June 21st for an afternoon rate deal, looking at Stow Acres-North @ $30.00 to walk after 2:30pm. I am not 100% I can play that day but if anyone is interested shoot me an email @ TMad300 at aol dot com and we can talk.

Never played Red Tail, maybe this year.......I live >1hr south, so that is one reason.....

Willowdale(with the GF)

Scotty Links has pretty good drainage, so it's a winner in the spring and after heavy rainstorms.
Easton and Poquoy have lousy drainage, and turn into a quagmire with alot of rain, I think Norton has some issues with water too, but I don't play there as often(good course for the $-Early tee times on the weekend are tough)

Most years I play Ridder at least once, not last year though, and I didn't play Pine Hills OR Acushnet River Valley(GREAT DEAL-Would probably be my home course if I lived closer)either.

Never played RT,Maple,NEEC,Cross, or waverley, so looking forward getting on those, just wanna get back to acush and PH too.

Read a little about B.A.G.S last year, a similar thing.
Looks like alot of fun, I am considering a membership somewhere this year, but I may just use that coin to do something fun like that instead.....problem is I just went through the entire schedule, and just about ALL of the private courses are Mon-Wed(I think only 1 private course on the weekend, and that was like October sometime).
Private course play is a draw for me, but I wouldn't be able to take advantage of enough of those visits, so probably not..again(same reason last year with Bags).

You mean that if you are a member of the MGA(that he posted), the outings are ALL just $60, and that includes a cart?

Edit- I looked your right....but they only scheduled 4 events last year, and all Tues and Wed...

I was wondering what the "Entrance/greens" fee would be at some of those courses, I mean Pinehills is 110 in the summer(looked over the GTB schedule)

Edit- Went digging through the GTB site some more, and see that the event costs are NORMAL greens fees, PLUS the daily pool, so your paying top dollar to play at these sites, and who knows what the fees are to play at some of those private courses.
