Posting Scores While Making Swing Changes

Unfair to competitors or not?

For the past couple months, I have been making some significant changes in my swing mechanics after beginning to use video and learning how ugly my swing really was. Good news is that I am loving the results so far but that's not what this is about.

Before the changes I was at a 10HDC. Although I am spending most of my time at the range, I still play about once a week or every other week but my scores suffered drastically during the process. I was struggling to stay under 100 at these times. Now, the changes have clicked in and I am back to the 80's and hopefully can break that barrier.

I know its proper to post ALL scores (including the ones that I made while making swing changes) but I play in a league that uses handicaps and it seems unfair to my fellow competitors to post those scores. I have done the math for posting these scores over the last couple months and my index would jump considerably (about 10 strokes). This seems almost like artificially inflating my index. I am not looking for a vanity index and really don't care how high it goes because I made the changes to be better over the long haul.

What is the proper way to handle this situation? Post the scores, take the high index and collect the trophies when I beat my index by 10 strokes OR not post them OR post but go to the committee and request an adjustment of my league index? I am leaning towards the third option.

Post all your scores. There's a reason your handicap should go up - your game is suffering due to swing changes. Your scores and handicap will go down once you get comfortable with the changes.

There's no need to worry about what others think as long as your are posting ALL your scores.
