Juliette falls a little out of the way, but very nice

Deer island-forget it
Harmony preserve, nice course, play it soon it may not make it

Hej Per - It seems like you were just planning your earlier trip to Florida. You should definitely play Sugarloaf Mountain. It is the hilliest course in Florida and lots of fun. It was supposed to be private, but becuase of the economy, it is open to the public and they habvve not yet built many houses near the course. It is "in the middle of nowhere" if you know that expression. I played it in April and thought it was excellent. Here is a link to my photos:

I also played Victoria Hills, Grand Cypress and celebration on this trip. Here are links to my photos of those. I enjoyed them all, but Sugarloaf was the most fun. The New Course at Grand Cypress is a tribute to the Old Course at St Andrews Scotland. It is as close to a links style as you have in Florida.

World Woods is a great choice. I don't remember which courses you played last year, but Orange County National, Southern Dunes, Bay Hill, Disney, Reunion, Championsgate and El Campeon are still good options to consider near Orlando.

I second Orange County National. In fact, if you can make it a two day excursion I'd stay at Orange County national. It is a different experience - everything is about golf. Just a really unique experience.

If you go to Disney, I'd recommend Magnolia or Palms for longer courses. Plus it is where the fall tournament is played AND the new Big Break. My favorite is Eagle Pines. Shorter course though, and it has construction going on around it. It will be off limits in a year so if you want to play it, now is the time.

I saw you mentioned TPC Sawgrass. Sawgrass is 2-3 hours away from Orlando.

Just wanting to throw in my .02 cents world of woods very very nice but price. If ur staying around that area u should try twisted oaks,el diablo is tough course( i saw the biggest snake in the fairway there stay out of the woods) lol. There are some nice course around in that area. the dunes is a fair course its right down the road from world of woods.Pine ridge is across the street from twisted oaks.Twisted oaks, pine ridge and el diablo you can play each for around 34 dollars el diablo is a little more. Thanks Robert

  • 5 weeks later...

Grand Cypress has 45 holes, The Scottish-Style New Course-18, The North, South, and East 9. North/South was their first 18 and hosted several top events, including the shark shootout. My favorite combo was East/North. The east course has an island green par 3 that is smaller in size than sawgrass....a great place to make a hole in one! Plus Grand Cypress's superintendent turned down a job at Augusta to stay there, so the course is always the best condition in the entire state of Florida....and I played Sawgrass two weeks before the players a few years ago.

Hope this helps.
