Bummer.. I was hoping for the BAR to be raised at a lower price.. would have been sweet. Still a good deal for those who dont care for promode.

If it comes preloaded with 18000 courses, then they'll likely not charge any fees afterwards-which for me is a deal breaker. Looks great and I may give that one a go. I tried the golf guru and although accurate, it was kind of cumbersome to use.

I'm guessing the screen size is the same as the original, but the overall product looks a little fatter. I'm not a fan of the drawings. I think for now I'll stick with the original although I'll definitely take a look. The 18,000 courses is cool, but I can't WAIT for the score card to FINALLY be released for the old model. That will be very nice for a walker.

Is there a date for the score card feature?
I'll stick with my Iphone GolfLogix App. $39.99 for the entire year, and it has 20,000 some courses and counting.

It works great, just as accurate as the SG5.

Get a backup battery solution and you can play 36.

You can keep stats and upload them to the server as well. Best app out right now for GPS Golf.
Is it better then the iPhone Golfshot app in terms of performance and value?

For $40 a year, it's like I bought a GPS at about a $350.00 value. The SG5 has one thing better and that is the Intelligreen, which isn't even that great of a feature.

My friend is standing in the fairway and he is using the Intelligreen and trying to tell me that the pin is in the back-middle, when the pin is visibly in the front-middle, and he is arguing with me.

So we get up there, and he's wrong, and I told him that the Intelligreen feature is fine if you know where the pin is and have a pin location chart from the course. We weren't playing a course that does that. They just move the pins around and you have to judge for yourself. It's amazing how much of the added features of these 499.99 GPS, are completely irrelevant when youre on the course. It's not false advertisment, it's just being pissed about say, reading your car manual and realizing that the high end luxury features in the manual don't apply. Wait! I dont have heated seats with lumbar support! Damn it.

Golf Logix is as accurate as the SG5 for yardage and it keeps stats much easier than the SG5. And it's worth 12 years of service, $40 x 12 = $480. In 12 years, where is the SG5 going to be, compared to a downloadable, upgradable, ever evolving, application.

Compared to the GolfShot App. I wouldn't bother with that. The performance on the Golf Logix is very good. The value is tremendous. You get free courses. FREE! No, annual additional charge for a "course package", what a joke that is. Courses are added constantly and you UPLOAD your stats to the server and look at charts and graphs for FREE.

One time, yearly, $40 charge. Great deal, IMO. If you play 40 rounds a year, that is like adding GPS to each round for an extra buck, or you can rent a UPro for 6.95. Ha, forget the UPro, I got the Golf Logix!

+1

Seems like Callaway has dropped the ball on the score and stats update for the original model. I wonder if it will ever be done?????
Wow great news! :clapping:

Will there be any membership fees or will the downloads be free in basic mode?
There will be a one time activation fee for "GoMode", I called uPro to ask how much and they told me "somewhere between $49-$99".
Anybody know what the fee will be?

iPhone/Blackberry apps etc. aren't approved by the USGA are they?

I have a bunch of points accrued through one of the credit card companies that are expiring the end of this month. I had enough to get the Upro Go.

After reading all I could about the Go model and even asking questions at GolfSmith and Golf Galaxy, I'm still not sure what the "Go" mode on the new model does. Even the guy at Callaway was unclear.

One of the websites says it'll give me specific yardages to any spot on the course or green if its in "Go" mode. Supposedly the "Go" mode is a one time activation fee of $40.

I ordered the Go model. We shall see what that bad boy will do.

My problem with the smartphone golf GPS is battery usage. My buddy has the iPhone GolfLogix app and it works well. But after the round is over he barely has enough battery power left to make a phone call. At least with my SG5 dedicated to golf I can use my blackberry for its intended purpose.

Fees. let talk fee's. Can someone tell me the last time they had to pay a one time cell phone bill? For anyone who uses any smart phone, check your monthly bill, that's right monthly bill. Last time i checked mine, it was into the $100 plus range and I'm sure it could go higher. So if you think your getting and great deal, it's costing you alot more money than you think. For those who think they have a monthly cell pnone bill anyway, that just for the phone, no Apps.

I think the website said it'll give you distance to any point "on the green" or "near the green" -- like to front of bunker that is guarding the green. If it would give you the distance to any point on the fairway, making it easy to determine lay-up distances, I'd be VERY INTERESTED. Let us know whenever you get yours and find out what "Go" mode does. Thanks.
