NXT Tour

How good is it?

I've seen that the NXT Tour has been called the poor man's Pro VI. Is it more comparable to the Pro VI or IX? How does it compare distance wise to either of these or something like the Nike Tour D?

I notice that the NXT scuffs easily. Do the other balls maintain their shape any better?

I am not sure that you can even compare the NXT Tour with either the Pro V1 or V1x. The NXT Tour is long off the tee, feels fairly soft but lacks the spin of the other two. They still hold well on the greens however. Definitely more durable than the aforementioned balls.

If you are looking for a "poor mans ProV" try the Burner TP or Bridgestone E5+

They both are more durable than the NXT

i was shooting in the 90s and finally broke 90 earlier this year with it. What i found is the NXT Tour plays long and straight for my drives and the approaches can still hold the greens quite decently. Putting fee is average. I like softer feel when putting.

Now i play the Srixon TriSpeed or the Wilson Zip, depends on which one i can get it cheaper. The TriSpeed gives me more distance on drives and also straighter. Putting feel is the best amongst the three and the spins around the greens are nice. The Wilson Zip if i hit it right it gives me the best distance, but is less desirable around the greens.

Played two balls per hole yesterday...the NXT and Nike Tour D. Found the NXT 5-7 yards longer per club. Should I expect that when transitioning to a softer "Tour Model"? Where do the Bridgestone RX330 and other top balls compare distance wise? I'd like a softer ball around the greens but I don't want to lose that much distance either.

Geez, I can see why noone plays Volvik!

Excellent post Greenie. Only question I have is what was the SS on those yardages?

In my experience with the NXT, I liked it better than the ProV. However, I don't cut down on my pitches, and play more of a bump and run style.

Regardless, I liked both the Burner TP and the Nike One Vapor better than the NXT. The Burner TP is more durable, and the Vapor had better greenside manners (with my swing type anyways).

BTW, I've played a number of tour balls (Pro Vs, TP Red, Srixon Z-URS, Cally Tour 56), and for a 16 handicap, the benefits of these balls are wasted on me. If you like the NXT Tour, and you hit it confidently, all the power to ya!
