Ping i530/Blueprint S combo

quick question, would it make a good combo to go 
Ping i530 from 5 to 7 (retro spec 24, 27.50, 31 Loft)
then blueprint S 8 to PW (power spec 35.50, 40, 44.50 loft)

I haven’t tried it but looks and shape wise i think this matches up better than using i230 for upper irons. I looked at them a bunch at the store and to my eye 530 shape just looks better than i230 especially up next to BPS. Now if it fits with gaps and golfer that’s a separate issue.

Yeah, I mean on paper, going BPS power spec and i530 retro spec seems to be good, the gap between the 7 and 8 is perfect, I can always adjust 0.5 or 1 loft if needed I guess?

I had looked at this as well and was more comfortable with 5-6 +.5" in 530 then 6-PW in BPS.  Just need to get comfortable looking at 2 six irons.  Have not made the move and currently game BPS 4-PW.

I was considering this and may end up switching to it. Ordered a set of i230 4-6 and BPS 7-pw, all power spec. I have heard from a lot of people BPS is a lot lower spin than i230 and i230 is actually pretty high spin. So I was really curious about the retro spec i530 as the long iron combo. My fear was having gapping be all messed up with i230 long irons if they spinning too much. Will report back when the irons come next week.

Nothing wrong with it, but just be aware of the pitfall.

 

Depending on you and your swing, you may fire off some really high-apex long irons, and some lower short irons.

 

This could be a desired approach, or it could be that you want a similar apex through the irons.

 

Have to suggest you try a 7-iron of each and see how *high* as well as how far each go. Try to find somewhere that will let you bring your favourite ball, and use it each time.

 

Might be brilliant, but has an equal chance of being poor. Test, test, test.

Im currently gaming tr20v cavity back irons, I really need more forgiveness in the long irons
what if I go i530 in the 5 iron and the rest BPS?

Get the i230 6-iron power spec'd, but the rest is good. 🙂 (In my opinion.)

If low spin long irons is your aim, then it could work I suppose. I was spinning the i530 4 iron at 2200 when I tried it out the other day. Not a club for me at all with that low spin, but I am low spin already.
