Titleist 695MB VS Taylor Made RAC MB TP

Review on both.........

Hi All,

I think you all know that these two irons are top of the line products from their respective manufacturer in 2006.

I am about to decide which one will I get in the next few months. If anybody has a swing with them or any knowledge about these irons set, Please feel me some info. Currently I play with Titleist 690MB. I have played with Taylor Made product before, the RAC MB.

both are very solid clubs and i would switch them for my 690's any day but i think the 690s had more feel or they were more forgiving i pured the 695.mb 8 iron and TP MB 06 6iron at a out door demo day and both had a good flight but didnt feel pure but they were and going a nice distance so i would switch them for my 690 mainly over looks

me i would choose the TP's 06 because thats the sickest muscle back design ever produced saw goosen and scott with both models back when i was at the presidents cup before i even knew about this site.... just to throw my 2 cents out there

They play really differently to each other. So it depends on what type of swing you have. I personally chose the 695mb's because I liked the look, feel and traj better. The TP MBs launch high and flat, but they fly a little high for my taste. I looked up after impact, and had to look higher than I like to. Plus they didn't feel as responsive. The 695MBs are a bit more boring. The 690s are much bigger than the 695MB, and the TP MBs are the same size as the TP CBs. If you want something as playable as the 690.mb then I'd take a look at the CBs. The MBs are smaller and are more like the 680s than the 690s.

That said, you should really try both of them out to see which one works for you. Keep in mind that the stock shaft for the TP MBs now are Rifle Flighted. The ones I hit were Dynamic Gold. Haven't hit the release version.

Thanks for the feedback so far... I am interested in these irons too, and I would welcome more feedback from those who have played these irons.

Perhaps its is wrong to associate the word "forgiving" with muscle back irons, but can anyone here confirm which of these 2 irons are more "forgiving" or have a larger sweet spot? Thanks!

I currently have the 695MB's and a set of RAC MB TP's should be arriving today. I will give a review this weekend on how they play. I am not too excited about the rifles in the RAC's but, I will keep an open mind.

I did hit both sets and played with the RAC TP MB's this weekend. I used to have the RAC MB Tours and was hoping that the new blades would be just as good. The MB TP's are beautiful clubs. I would venture to say they are the best looking iron that TM has produced IMO. They are not as soft as the MB Tours but, they do perform as good or even better. I had a tendency to hit the MB Tours a little too high. It might be the rifle shafts but, I hit the TP's much lower. I am not a titleist fan but the 695MB's are great clubs. They are not as soft as the RAC MB TP's but perform very well. Based on performance, looks, feel, and distance, I am going to stay with the RAC MB TP's.

BigD, Do the TP's have the leading edge "killed" or ground? I find that my 695 MB's tend to dig a little and was wondering if the TP's have that problem.

I will have to look. I am changing my swing right now to a steeper swing and they are not digging at all. I believe the leading edge is a little rounded but not killed. The TP's are still the best thing out there for me right now. I have found myself in a TM love fest. Again, not as soft as the Tour MB's but lower ballflight and better looking to me.

OK thanks. I have a factory mixed set of 695 MB and CB's and while they are very good clubs they just aren't quite right for me. I am looking at the TP's or maybe a set of the older tour MB's.
