Looking for a good 4 wood

Any suggestions on a good distance, forgiving and traditional looking 4 wood? I really like the Titleist 904F 4 wood I have now but I got it with a soft R flex which is not good for my swing. Should I just reshaft this? Thanks.

Is the head or the shaft the problem? The club is as good of one you can find, but if the shaft doesn't fit, that would also be causing problems

Thanks, I beleive it's the shaft that's causing the problem, I need either a regular or a firm flex shaft, this one is too loose. I really like this head and have no problem with playability.

Stick with your head and try out different shafts. The 904F is a fantastic fairway wood, I would play one if I could purchase it under $90. Most reputable dealers will have the 904F to demo in YS, NV, NVS, Fuji, and Grafalloy shafts, so picking something out should not be to much of a hassle.

I recently purchased a Callaway X tour 15 degree and I have to tell you that it is the easiest fairway wood I have ever hit!

I was looking for a weak 3 wood that I could not hook ever because that is what i do when I go bad and I can swing out of my shoes without this club going of line!

I agree about the shaft. In my opinion, getting the right shaft in your fairways is more important than the head. Just find a head you like the look of at address and then find the right shaft (easier said than done!)

 

I actually love the look and feel of my Sonartec Np99s. These can now be had for cheap on ebay. Just make sure you go up one or two degrees of loft to compensate for their super low launch.

I would definately look at changing the shaft in your 904 before you think about changing the head. However, I'm playing the 200 Steel "Ridgie" and can't say enough good things about it, you might want to give that a try.

My cleveland launcher 4 wood is as good a fairway wood as I could hope to have. I have hit some above average shots with it so far.

I like the Callaway Big Bertha 4+ wood that I have. It's easy to hit and very versatile.

After trying too many clubs to remember, I am in my final shoot out. I have struggled a bit off the fairway in the past. Both the Tour Edge Exotics 16.5 and Adams Tour Prototype 4060 16* have the Diamana 83 Red shaft. Both clubs are awesome. Very easy to hit off the deck and long. The shaft works great in both heads. I need a bit more comparison time, but either club would happily make my bag.

I really like my 904F. I have a number of fw woods right now, and it's the one that's in my bag. Definitely a great head. I had one with the speeder stiff. Hit it pretty well, but it was a little low-launching for me. It ended up being much less expensive to sell it and get my current one (YS-6+ FW stiff) than it would have been to re-shaft the original with this shaft. Just a thought!

If you're looking for a fairway wood, the T-60 is hard to beat. If you're looking for more of a utility club, the Retro Raylor is ridiculously sweet.
