Yururi Gekku Raw Wedges

feedback
I have been looking at the Yururi Gekku Raw wedges for a few years now and I am itching to give them a try. Since demos are non-existant in my area, I would like to hear feedback from people that own or have used them.

I am a sweeper and take very small or no divots. I understand the leading edge on these wedges is pretty sharp and the 61 degree wedge has very low bounce (I believe 5). As such, I am thinking that these wedges should fit my swing. High bounce wedges do not work for me.

Also, can anyone confirm: I understand the Gekku Raw wedges are forged by Kyoei. The Gekku wedges look almost identical to the Vega Huwari wedges (forged by Kyoei). So, I assume Kyoei forges, then Yururi does its own grinding to the wedge. Is that correct?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I would be buying these without a demo.

Thanks

No feedback? Oh well, I got antsy and pulled the trigger this afternoon. Yururi's on the way from Tourspecgolf. So, we shall see.

I believe you are correct in everything you posted. I'm playing the 53, and it does have a sharp leading edge.

Not sure on the shaft. I also purchased the Dance With Dragon grip as well. I was kind of thinking about KBS just to try something different. That is one of the few shafts I have not yet tried.

To be completely honest, part of the reason I am considering KBS would be for looks as I think the black nickel finish would look good with the wedge, of course, if the shaft would not perform I would not use it. The looks are just another bonus. The feedback on KBS seems pretty much positive. If I don't go with the KBS, then I am going with Nippon 1150 or Nippon WV wedge shafts.

How is the finish holding up on your KBS black nickel shafts?

They are very similar to the Kyoei/VEGA Huwari wedges. I had a set but decided to sell them because they spun too much. Even my bump and runs were checking up. They are definitely ball shredders. The feel was fantastic. You will definitely enjoy hitting them.

Thanks slicktry and asianone. I look forward to playing with it. Just bought a 49 degree Yururi Raw Gekku as well, shafted with Nippon. I am going to see how it plays with the Nippon, then decide on the shaft for the 61.

The DWD grip feels cool, but man it smells strange. Very very strong perfume smell! I hoped the smell would go away, but still smells like a brothel this morning.

Yeah, the Huwari looks almost identical. Just a guess, but I suppose Vega and Yururi receive the same forged head from Kyoei, then Yururi and Vega apply their own unique grinds? I have a "sweeper" swing so the sharp leading edge and low bounce should work for me. Unfortunately with all the snow on the ground, I won't really know for sure for a while. Right now golf is hitting off astro turf at a heated outdoor range. You hit the ball into a snow covered field.

I have the exact same one. Should fit you well as you're a sweeper. I'm more of a digger, and I just can't hit mine anymore. The leading edge is super sharp and if I'm not careful I just dig underneath the ball.

The Yururi grinds are much better. I personally prefer the Tour grinds, but all are VERY playable.

I still want the the Tour grind with the satin finish of the Rupas. They won't make it though, and that came directly from the CEO...

I've played Zodia, Miura and the Yururi in question. By FAR, and the most automatic, with the best results, hands down, is the Yururi. I have the 57 Yururi, 56 Miura and 52 Zodia US Spec, and man; if you don't have one or a set in your bag, you are missing out.

*Edit. Both Miura and Yururi have KBs in them. Zodia has a SL200.

Stew,

The chili wedges are good, albeit still different from the tour grinds. I also play 54/60, so it would be really messing up the original design to get them bet +/- 3*. BTW, how's the ground holding out in your neck of the woods? Pray that you suffered no loss!

God I want these, but it is hard to justify spending that much on a wedge head. I know they are some of the best quality, but are they really THAT much better than Vokey?

not too bad theres stil rumbling most days and nights , woke to biggy 2 days ago.
but were all kinda just bahhhhhh unless its got an 8 handle we dont bother even moving the sheets to get up
no loss here, except for sleep, and a sense of safety in yr surroundings!
they looked almost identical to the tour grind.. i guess they have to be a bit differnt but the general grind is very similar and shape. he makes top wedges, lord knows ive played them all, and his ones always find thier way back in the bag sooner rather than later.
