I've had it with the Golf Channel !!

Sorry, but I have to rant!!!

 

One of my few reasons for keeping cable is for the Golf Channel. But I am so tired of their terrible coverage of pro golf events.

 

They constantly come back from commercials and show MAYBE 3 pros hit a shot and then go to more commercials! They just did it today with the Farmers Tournament. They do it ALL THE TIME! I watched, today for fifteen minutes and saw exactly 3 minutes of golf!

 

Last week, they came back from commercials and showed Ricky Fowler waiting to hit a tee shot on a par 3. The course was backed up so he stood there for about three minutes AND THAT"S ALL THEY SHOWED! Him just standing there! Then they went to more commercials! When they came back he already hit!

 

Many times they have pro interviews and that is ALL they show for that segment, NO GOLF. Why can't they at least use a split screen to show both? Or let you listen to the interview while showing the golf?

They are the worst for golf coverage. I know commercials pay the bills but they take it to the extreme. Believe me when I say I am NOT exaggerating about this. Their coverage is horrible.

 

Now I can finally get rid of cable.

i think the part that is frustrating is that earlier in the day when they show the euro's.......they will show non-stop action. i'm talking 10-15 shots back to back. TGC is more about fracking Kelly T. and Faldo and their stupid stories. And I am so sick of seeing the shoreline and the cliff jumpers. If i wanted to watch nature...i'd turn on Discovery or National Geographic.

There's God knows how many of these "I hate TGC" threads floating around and it's getting a bit old. TGC comes with my basic cable package so I get it whether I want it or not. If you don't like it then stop watching it. It's almost like people watch only so they can later complain. Very strange.

I think the Brit's do a much better job on TV and XM radio with golf events...maybe it is because there are golfers and there are people who play golf... golfers care about the rules, etc. People that just play golf don't seem to be into so much... In England, the attitude is more serious about the game, etc. My 2 cents... Bob

Agree with OP - the result of no other options - we are a captive audience. I suspect if there were ever a reality we would find ourselves in where there was a competing coverage option, things would be better ...

There should be many threads and there should be loud complaints. Maybe word will get back to TGC or better yet their sponsors. If you are an advertiser, take note, I don't watch your commercials on TGC, ever. If I'm not using the DVR, I'm flipping channels. The coverage of golf on TGC is such crap that I will not settle in, get comfortable and watch a commercial or two. No way.

I agree but DVR it and watch it the next day. For some reason the weekend coverage is always better than thursday and friday, but on thursday and friday they only show a few players or the last group then the weekend gets much better. If you don't like it don't watch it but they do have to pay the bills.

Agreed. What funny is that this timeslot 1-2:30 today was simply bonus coverage. If you don't like what Golf Channel does, change the channel or tune in to CBS at 3.

OP, go ahead and pull the trigger on canceling the cable. I appreciate very much most things about the golf channel. Mostly i appreciate having access to all of the live golf they offer. Are there annoyances and things that bother me? Of course. But to just lay into them when frankly, they are just people, doing the best job they can in a very difficult production environment.

I also don't care for the GC coverage but it's better than nothing. I wish I could tune in the CBS coverage, I live in Va and receive the Richmond locals. The Richmond CBS station puts on ACC Basketball this time of the year and doesn't carry the network programs.

It's really a simple fix, if it enrages you that much to watch, then turn the channel and don't watch. Simple, no?

I agree with you. I wish my life was so tranquil and easy that TGC #isses me off. My wife LOVES golf maybe more than me if that's possible and she has golf on TGC on (in another room)whenever any Tournament is on and has never complained.

I'll watch and listen to Kelly and Nick anyday over Johnny Miller. Miller is so annoying and arrogent I have to turn the volume off when he is on.
McCord , Feherty and Nantz are great and keep it interesting when the action slows.
