Also i would say (arguably) going to a smaller or "worse" program but being the #1 player is probably better than sitting for a year unless your sitting at a top 10 or 20 school. Being the #1 player will allow you to play all the tournaments and then you can always transfer after a year. My best friend I didn't have the results to get a large enough scholarship to the school he wanted so he went to a solid D2 school on virtually a full ride and was then able to transfer to a D1 program and get quite a nice amount of scholarship money.

the best posts on here are the ones about figuring out what you want. i had two offers... ole miss and a D2 school obu... was guaranteed 4 years of scholie at obu, chose to go there, ended up with 5 b/c i got a medical red shirt.

upon my arrival i discovered i was by far the best player, avg scoring was 75, maybe a little under, next closest to me was close to 80. i dont regret the superior education i got, but often wonder what would have happened had i been pushed. my scoring avg went up each year and i ended up being the 69-68 range one day and 79-82 next day--i practiced zero.

the education paid off for me, and i get to golf 3-4 times a week!!!

like i (and previous posters) have said, figure out what you are after and decide from there. i will say it was fun being the big(er) fish in a small pond than the high school team i came from who won 6-7 5A state championships in a row.. i was always scrapping for 4-5 spot. in college i was "shoe in" #1 for first 2-3 years.
