I just picked up the new Taylor Made R7 TP 3 Wood. Only played twice with it so far but I can honestly say it is awesome. Sets up nice, strong trajectory, plenty forgiving and very long. Feels incredibly solid .

Of all the RC/Sonartec FWs that I've hit (which is a lot!) the only two still in the bag are both SS-07. This club is every bit as hot as BBD-H just as long. The sole has more camber and the face is deeper, making it better off of tight lies and more confident off the tee. And they love heavier shafts, which is right up my alley!

The kicker is the adjustable hosel. I bent both of mine open to keep the ball off the left side and to prevent the sole from bouncing. These have kicked out 980 Strong, BBD-N, BBD-H and are now getting me to sell my beloved BBD-T.

This is the one Sonartec got right. I can't recommend it enough.

I have had the new Sonartec SS-3.5 for about three weeks now and love it. I had the NP99 before (along with almost every other 3-wood mentioned in this thread - except the Cleveland), but never liked it as much as my old SS-03, with HM4. The SS-3.5 is like the SS-03, but a bit easier to hit off the deck. It's a monster off the tee, too. :cheesy:

I had a Nippon NS Pro 950 steel shaft installed and have had good luck. I also have the Nippon in a couple of my hybrids: they are fantastic fairway wood shafts. They are in the mid 90 gram range and get the ball up very nicely.

Another nice head that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Mizuno Hot Metal.

I'm still waiting for the other piece the one w/ the grip on it! :vava:

Either the knee was on the way or you didn't saw the knee was coming to fast. :D But i must admit that you are getting good at it. :ok:;)

Yea...uh...um...there must have been an "irregularity" in that first Nippon shaft I had in that head. The thing just snapped right in half :cheesy: - very strange. :cheesy: (imitation of me after dead-blocking it into the water on the 16th at Poppy Ridge :busted_cop: )

It was a few weeks back and I had a full group of "out-of towners." ;)

Now that I think about it...it was the 17th hole, not the 16th, which was the 8th on the ZIN course. Blocked my 3rd shot (after having to chip out of the cr@p on the right side) right into that little creek in front of the green.

Frustrating course if you are hitting it sideways...

THis is my first response just joined yesterday so easy on the new guy. This will sound a bit too easy but the new big bertha with a speeder 757. Super solid club, very predictable goes forever. I just got rid of a sonartec 3.0 14 with a ys 9.1 s/x and my speeder bertha ate that club for lunch. Also just got rid of a v steel ys7 x and the bb speeder destroyed it too. My bb is even longer than a tisi tec with a vp 80 that i had not to mention way easier to hit off the deck.

i did not want to like the big bertha but it has soundly trounced every other 3 wood it has competed against.

The fella to whom i sold my sonartec had the great displeasure of hitting my bb speeder after the sale and was blown away.

The BB is a nice wood and long but I couldn't get used to the shape. For me, the best is still the Tourstage FS-T. Long, straight, and shapeable.

Best all around for me has been the Hot Metal HK Pro 80x combo. That thing was awesome. Of course, like a real stupid a**, I sold it. In the bag right now is an SS03 14* NV95x which is stupid long off the tee. Just got the Tour Launcher 14* in the mail and will be shafting up with a Sapphire. I hope the Sapphire is not a poor choice for a 3 wood.

Been with my V-Steel for a while now. It doesn't get much use, so I really haven't been looking around much, but that Royal Collection Pro CV 3-wood looks gorgeous.

Saw a whole bunch of them at the local Asian Tour stop here. V-Steels got plenty of play, the most of any brand, Callaways were next mostly steelhead plus and IIIs.

Hmmmmmmm....

Revenge of the retail ;)

I just changed my mind on the perfect 3 wood.

Happen to be in NC and played 9 yesterday afternoon. I had no clubs so I rented a "classic" set of Titleists. No glove, street shoes and 88 and REALLY humid.

I hit every fairway. Nothing more than a flip wedge into the 4s and I hit both par 5s in 2 with nothing more than this AWESOME  3 wood. What was it you might ask?

Stock steel shafted 975f 14.5 with a worn out grip and badly bent neck and shaft. :busted_cop:

Unnreal. I kid you not I could not have possibly hit it any better. I mean as good as you can draw it up.

Go figure.

It's been almost two years now - I can't believe it. Seems like I just moved.

You need to try the SS3.5 - it's even better than the SS-03!

Really..it's time for you to shake up that bag - I may have to put in a 911 call to GolfTrader to assist you. ;)
