Driver Progression (how many have you had)

I was talking with one of my friends this weekend and we were discussing the evolution we have taken with our drivers. As drivers seem to offer the most technological advancements from year to year and in turn generate the most marketing buzz. I thought it woudl be interesting to see how may drivers have you had over the last say 5 years and what was the progression.

 

Mine goes something like this.

8. nike sasquatch tour 9.5* w/ aldila nv-75 - 3 monthes and like it, just not as much as the sasquatch. slightly lower ball flight so i use it when its really windy or a place when i really need to hit fades a lot

Man, I ust posted about the numer of sets I've had. Now drivers, geez I'm feeling a tad nostalgic.

 

Precision II driver...circa 1996???? I don't remember loft, and didn't pay attention then. I was a hacker who didn't think of golf as a sport compared to other's tha I was playing.

 

Second: Jazz C.F.O 10* Nice driver for the price had a regular flex Grafalloy shaft. Might've been a Jazz version of a ProLite. I gave it to my nephew.

 

Third: Jazz Fat Cat 10.5*. Steel shafted, it wasn't a bad driver but I gave it away as well.

 

Fourth: My first serious driver. Taylormade R540XD 9.5*. I still own this one and use it as back-up, I reshafted it with a Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 65S.

 

Current: Cobra 460SZ 10.5*. I reshafted with the Accuflex AccuLAUNCH 80. I love the shaft not too crazy about the head although she does perform great.

 

I am thinking and have been thinking for about a year now of buying a Titleist 983K. I hit one last year and loved it. I know technology wise it's dated but a lot of guys still use it. I may also try a SMT, Bang or Infiniti.

cobra 427ss 6.0* with a penley eta 3x shaft(launches just right, pushes to the right though at times)

cobra 450sz 6.0* with a penley eta 4x shaft(very nice)

getting cobra xxspeed series 7.0* with stock shaft, will be putting in an accuflex extreme ld 3x shaft for testing purposes on the shaft. then work out the bugs in terms of shaft flex.

if all goes well then accuflex shafts in all my drivers. all shafts were 49-50 inches long with exception to the callaways, hawkeye was cut to 45 inches, place where i had installed didn't see the instructions to cut to 49 inches.
