Maybe Taylor Made bought the rights to the red neck irons for $2.00 and restamped them, kind of like Cobra and MacGregor :yahoo:

have you hit the Dunlop blades??? i have and i have to say that they are one of the best feeling bladse that i have ever hit... i have beeen playing Team Diwa Blades for just about my hole life.. i jsut dont think you have the right to say things like that if you dont know that you are talking about...

My local golf store got one set of Dunlop blades and I got to hit them. They were definetly close to the best blade that I ever hit. If I remember correctly the retail on that set was $1,100. But the store sold them within a week probably due to the publicity of Daly using them but they were no doubt great irons. If Dunlop would continue to make players irons like those and get their name out there more they could be a top notch company. They just like to sell their chunky crap in the local Walmarts. But I give the players blades a great rating on my list....

Perhaps you could explain my rights to me, but please use better grammar and spelling this time. And I have had (note the use of the past tense) a set of the Red Neck irons and they definitely belong at Wal Mart, Costco, K-Mart, Target, Sam's Club. But I have had no experience with Diwa Blades, perhaps they are a joint venture of DIAWA.

  • 3 weeks later...

Saw a few pics of them. They look just like his Dunlop Redneck blaces, except they hace the TaylorMade logo and JD's Lion logo, along with the word proto stamped across the back. Actually, kind of rough and ugly looking, not what you would normally expect from TaylorMade.

you described them to a tee have you got a picture or where did you see them not that ugly

I agree with the above post, that stamping up some old Dunlops with TM logos is a dicey thing to do, but, look at the pics. They are the original RG irons with a TM stamp and some "creative" sandblasting on the muscle which bears a passing resemblance to the RAC "Feel Pockets" i.e. Taylor Made's "You-can-see-it from-a-distance-unique-selling-point."

This is the biggest rip I have ever seen.

They took the Dunlops (100% Sure) look at the hossle! And beedblasted the backs, and stamped the TM logo.

I didn't realize that Dunlop and Srixon were affiliated. Doesn't Dunlop also own the Slazenger brand, and as mentioned by someone else here, Maxfli, which they sold to TaylorMade.

Do you know more about Dunlop and where the Dunlop RG Design blades are made? Does Srixon (they make forged clubs, right?) make them?

Years ago, Slazenger made these beautiful blades for Seve Ballesteros (actually several styles like the Seve Blades and the Supremos).

Edit: A little research showed that these (at least the retail ones) are 304 stainless (and no references mention forging), which leads me to believe they are NOT forged (I don't know of any clubs forged with 304 stainless, but I could easily be wrong).
