I look forward to Ping offering an innovative new driver. But I hope the buzz of "giant gains in distance" claims won't become too outrageous. The Hibore mania got to such a point that if claims were to be true every pro would be playing it. Gain 30 yards with unlimited forgiveness. Now Vijay isn't even playing it every tournament. That being said, by the time the Ping is about to be released I will be trying to convince myself it's all true.

I can tell you at the western open they had a new driver the Bubba was testing and a new set of S58 irons that players were testing as well. I over heard Bubba say he loved the new driver.

If Bubba is playing a new driver, does that driver have to be listed in the USGA's conforming driver list?

Yup. But it doesn't have to be listed if he only tested it on the range or during a practice round.

I met the guy who designs the Ping europe website on Saturday and he told me that they are discontinuing the G5 range and introducing a new range called the 'vulture' or something like that. The new iron being used on tour will be introduced in Autum. The uy also sed that they are designing a new Grafite shaft using some exotic materials thats gonna revolutionary!! :cheesy:
