Bridgestone J33

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a new 420cc model, 10.5* degrees with VS-Proto shaft on the Bay today. I was able to nab it for $77 plus shipping. After being in Omaha earlier this week with my daughter on a college visit, and then spending some time at Dick's looking at drivers in the $250 to $400 range, I figured this one was a great bargain :yahoo: Can't wait to get it and for the temps to move up so I can hit it!

I have had the 460 since X-mas, and I like it. It took me a little while to find the center of the face (the hottest part) consistantly for a hacker like me, but when you find it, the ball gets on out there. I had the shaft spined, and it might be even better than I expect.

I was wanting to comment on this for some time now: I love all three of my J33's. Have for 2 years.

Now, swapping drivers on the range with anyone I play with leads to 2 things:

1. My initial gesture to see what they think of this bridgestone head. Most cant get the 10.5 half as high as whatever they are gaming. Its shocking. Good ball strikers too.

2. They offer me a chance to hit what driver they have for comparison. My shots with those few swings tends to carry a long ways and to the watchers by, appears to be a great shot.

I come away from those moments with a bit of chagrin because I want everyone to know what a good club this is, but everyone who cant hit well seems to think its a sub-standard driver.

Anyone else have experience like this?

J33r 460 9.5 Diamana Blueboard 63......absolute best combo I have ever hit. Long straight bombs. You can work it very easily both ways, but with this shaft for me it is just an extremely long point and shoot stick. I really believe the forgiveness of this driver is underrated.

Got my J33P 8.5 in today from ebay. Brand new and I'm putting a pershing 75g stiff in it. I was worried about not being able to get the ball in the air with this driver but after a few swings on the launch monitor, no worries here. This driver is a bomber. Flat out bomber. I bought it with a reg flex NV shaft and my first swing was 288y. Spin was 3700, SS 104 and LA at 14. Back to back with a dymo, it was much lower trajectory, both felt good and I'm sure with a better shaft in the dymo it can be a bomber, but this 375cc is a keeper for sure. I can't wait to pick it up in a few hours with the pershing. I'm still in shock about how good feeling and solid this driver is. It feels like a D3 kinda. I still need to compare it to my 5000 with V2 to be sure.

I am hoping Nike's 380cc is similar to how the J33p plays, sounds, spins, launches, feels.

Just got my J33r 460 8.5* with whiteboard 73-X today. This driver hits bombs! For me it launches mid-high with what seems like no spin whatsoever, it flies for miles then runs out like a scolded cat when it hits the floor. It is a good 15-20 yds longer than my cobra S9-1 pro D was and its 0.5" shorter! Best driver i have ever hit plus the feel and look of it is second to none, i guarantee if it said titleist on the bottom everyone would be bagging it!

I just won ebay J33R with Speeder 757 Stiff for $112 bucks, was it a good deal? I currently game a srixon 403 ad, vs proto 70S, nice driver with a hot face but need something more forgiving. My SS is 104 on average, with agressive tempo. My mishits tend to be high push, or a straight pull. Distance wise I am 250-270. My spin rate tend to be on the high side (3900-4200). The weakest part of my game is off the tee on par 5's an long par 4's. Will the new combo benefit me?

Can't wait for J33R to arrive. I"ll provide an update once i've gotten a few rounds in with it. I'am optimistic based on what I've read here.

More forgiving is not what you will find. My driver is shorter than my gamer, but my misses are more playable.

Hit the J33R/speeder 757 combo yesterday at the course I was having a hard time getting it up. Faired poorly, wasn't swinging well and there was a 2 club wind.

Took it to the range today. As someone suggested, I really gotta go after it and get good load due to the shaft. And man, this thing is a missile launcher. I was getting looks of amazement at the range. I am 5'7" and was bombing it 280 to 300.

One thing, I probably won't game it for a while. Gotta get use to loading the shaft like that. Feels stiffer than the vs proto 70 on my srixon. If you got an aggressive tempo and generate too much spin on your current driver this may be the combo for you. Can't wait to harness it's power, wow.

I absolutely love the J33R. Both in 420 and 460 models. My Current gamer is a 420 9.5 with an Oban Devotion 7 stiff tipped 1 inch. I just switched out a 460 8.5 head for the 9.5 420. I have also hit a 420 8.5 with a Grafalloy Proliggic 95 and have a 460 9.5 with an Accuflex Evolution. The J33 is the lowest spinning OEM head that I have ever hit. My driver swingspeed tops out at 110 and I could easily game a 10.5 in these heads. With the 8.5's I have tried I found myself having to focus on getting the carry I wanted. I could do it no problem, but decided that 9.5 was the definite way to go. My advice to anyone with an average swingspeed is to go for the 12 degree if you can find one. Definitely don't go any lower than 10.5. If you happen to balloon a J33R, it's most likely your swing, because I can guarantee it's not the head.

I had this same experience with my 460 9.5 with an Accuflex Evolution. Same solution. You have got to load the shaft hard and really go after it. The results are fantastic, but it becomes quite the workout hitting ball after ball with it.

I just picked up a j33r 460 10.5* for a great price, and i'm looking to reshaft with a lower kick pt.I've got a 95-100 ss- i need more LA.I also have a ft9 9.5* w/fubuki 63s and that ball flight is perfect.I've heard great things about the j33r; but i need a different shaft- any recommendations(axivcore black)?Thanks

I'm thinking about getting a J33R but I am hesitating because no one around here has any to demo. I'm not sure which loft to get.

My swing speed is 97-100mph and very smooth.

I'm thinking either 10.5 or 12. My current gamer is a R5 Dual TP at 10.5° that I hit about 250 yards. I'm thinking I might want the 12° so I would be in play more but I don't want a ballooning ball flight with lost distance.

Looking for someones opinion who has hit the 10.5 and the 12.

Thanks

J33R 460 + Speeder 757 is a sick combo but it does require a good pass to get the most out of it. my first J33R was that combo...regret selling it. i've since picked up 2 more and they're not going anywhere... one soon to be matched up with a whiteboard 73S and i may just put a 757 in the other...or a 7Z08.

Love my 9.5 420 cc with a Pershing 75S, though it may be a tad low launch of a combo when it's not summer up here in the Pacific NW. Just scored a 10.5 460cc model with a Blueboard 63 stiff for 71 bucks on ebay and I'm really excited to try that combo... figure I'd get a bit more carry with the higher loft. Really love my current driver combo though.
