Kentucky State Park Courses

Hidden Cove and Eagle Ridge

I am thinking of making a short weekend trip down to Kentucky area to play a few of the park courses. I have been told to play Hidden Cove, Eagle Ridge, and Old Silo (not part of parks). Would these 3 be a wise choice? Apparently the elevation changes, conditions, scenery, challenge, etc is top notch. Also, if I do this, it would be early spring.....end of April....beginning of May. Are the courses down there in pretty good shape that time of year? Any other suggestions in the vicinity of those 3 would be appreciated.

Played Hidden Cove about 6 years ago and it was a beautiful course. Has bent grass fairways and greens so it should be in great shape this time of year.

I think next summer I might do a mini-trip there and play those as well as:

Stonecrest (KY)
Twisted Gun (WV)

Eagle Ridge is supposed to be an awesome golf course.

You couldn't have a better package of courses than that. You will have a lot of fun just getting to Twisted Gun; you talk about 'off the beaten path'! And I have played all these, Eagle Ridge many times. Best fun golfing ever, if you love that sort of course, which I do.

hidden cove and eagle ridge are awesome and very close to each other. eagle ridge is a classic "target golf" course, you have to hit to certain spots and yardages. it is one of my all time favorite courses in the state. it is built on top of multiple hills and is as scenic as any course you will ever play. both courses were in awesome shape in the fall and thus should be in top shape in the spring. greens at both are always speedy and firm. the only problems would be weather related, ie if the spring is wet they will be wet.

old silo is probably my second choice behind eagle ridge. it is always in top shape. it has a ton of bunkers, however it is easily played without getting into one, they just are always in your face on every shot.

i live in ky and have played all of these and can say 100% that if this is your trip, it will be very enjoyable!!!

Is the best place to stay for this trip in Grayson? We were going to play Old Silo the first day on the way down. Leave very early in the A.M. Play the 36 holes at Old Silo, and then drive to Grayson and stay there? It appears that's a decent place as far as proximity to Eagle Ridge and Hidden Cove.

Hidden cove is a pretty nice course. The LONG par 5 is a brute.

I've played all the courses listed on this thread and I'd play all of them. Eagle Ridge is my favorite followed by Stonecrest then Hidden Cove. I didn't care for Twisted Gun. The greens were terrible but everything else was good. Old Silo was okay but the bunkers were washed out.
